Boise State has never lost a regular season game at home on a Friday night, which makes it the clear choice as an ATS pick versus BYU at Albertsons Stadium.

Downward Trend

BYU is 0-3 SUATS in its last three games, which is significant to consider when looking over the college football betting odds, as it looks to bounce back from a 42-35 defeat to the Nevada Wolf Pack as 10-point home favorites last Saturday, while going OVER the total for a fourth consecutive contest.

The Cougars have been pleased with Christian Stewart’s play since he took over for Heisman Trophy candidate Taysom Hill, as he threw for a career-high 408 yards in his second career start last time out.

Over the last two-plus seasons, the program is 4-5 SU and 6-3 ATS as underdogs.

No Drop Off

Boise State’s fan base was a bit concerned that the team would suffer a drop off after longtime head coach Chris Petersen left the school to take the University of Washington job, but former signal-caller Bryan Harsin has filled in admirably.

The Broncos are 5-2 SU and 4-3 ATS through seven games, which can’t be ignored when making your college football predictions, especially since they’ve only lost the statistical battle to No. 3 Ole Miss.

Sports bettors will find that the squad has covered the number in four of its last five opportunities as home favorites of 3.5 to 7 points.

Series History

The Cougars earned a 37-20 victory over the Broncos as 6.5-point home favorites last year—winning the statistical battle by a 568-499 margin.

Stewart will have a hard time matching Hill’s numbers from that matchup, as he completed 27 of 41 passes for 339 yards and three touchdowns with zero interceptions.

It’s important to point out that both of Boise State’s two previous home wins in this series have been by a single point.

The Broncos could easily move to seven-point favorites before the opening kickoff, as they’ve compiled a perfect 11-0 SU record at home during the regular season when playing on a Friday night.

Harsin’s crew will also gain confidence in knowing that it has proven victorious in its last 34 October games at this venue.

I’m going to recommend that readers back the Broncos as one of their top Week 9 college football picks, as they’ve gone 9-3 ATS in their last 12 home games versus a team with a winning road record.
