Before making your NCAAF pick, keep in mind, the Boise State Broncos have dominated opponents in home openers in recent years. This provides them a major edge vs. the Colorado State Rams in Week 2.

Turning the Program Around
Colorado State has won seven of its last nine games dating back to last season, including a 31-17 victory over the Colorado Buffaloes as 2.5-point neutral-site underdogs last week, while going UNDER the betting total of 54.

The Rams are receiving a lot of action in the marketplace as road underdogs on the college football odds page, especially since they have an experience signal-caller in Garrett Grayson, who threw for 3,696 yards and 23 touchdowns last year.

It’s important to point out that this program has covered the number in seven of its last eight games away from Fort Collins.

A Tough Opener
Boise State was unable to overcome quarterback Grant Hedrick’s four interceptions in a 35-13 loss to the Ole Miss Rebels as 9.5-point neutral-site underdogs on Aug. 28, but it was only out-gained by a 59-yard margin.

The Broncos are capable of bouncing back in this spot, which can’t be ignored when making your college football picks, as they’ve won 12 consecutive Bronco Stadium openers by an average of 35 points.

In its last seven opportunities as home favorites of 7.5 to 10 points, the squad has put together a 6-1 SUATS record.

Last Year’s Meeting
The Rams suffered a 42-30 loss to the Broncos as seven-point home underdogs last year, but they won the statistical battle by a 626-437 margin due to running an incredible 109 plays offensively.

Grayson completed 36 of 53 passes for 397 yards and a touchdown with an interception, but Hedrick out-performed him by throwing five scoring strikes.

Colorado State may sputter at times in this matchup, as its four combined starts on the offensive line to start the season were the fewest in the country.

Dominant Numbers
The Broncos have won 14 consecutive conference openers, which fits nicely with the best home winning percentage in the country since the start of the 2000 campaign with a record of 86-4 (.956).

For the fourth consecutive year, Boise State topped the Mountain West Conference Preseason Poll, which is important to note due to former head coach Chris Petersen’s departure to Washington.

First-year head coach Bryan Harsin has had a couple extra days to prepare for this affair, which should allow the Broncos to clean up their mistakes from the opener and perform at a high level in front of their frenzied fan base.

Prediction
I’m going to recommend that readers back the Broncos as one of their Week 2 NCAA football picks, as they’ve covered the number in 13 of their last 18 games in September.

Sports bettors should potentially wait to see if the number dips to 9.5 in the market, as Colorado State is receiving a majority of the action.
