The Washington State Cougars look to remain atop the Pac-12 when they host the Oregon Ducks. Let's examine the matchup with our Oregon-Washington State picks.

The Cougars beat then No. 19 Wisconsin at Camp Randall Stadium to survive their only test against a ranked team. Oregon responded nicely with consecutive wins over Eastern Washington and BYU by a combined 77 points after a 46-point drubbing at the hands of Georgia.

Washington State won four straight games in this rivalry from 2015 to 2018, but Oregon has come back with three consecutive victories, only one of which was by fewer than 14 points.

Here are our top picks for the college football Week 4 Oregon-Washington State matchup (odds via PointsBet, FanDuel Sportsbook, and DraftKings Sportsbook; Pick confidence is based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Oregon vs. Washington State ATS Pick

Washington State +6.5 (-107) ★

Perhaps Oregon doesn't deserve as much support as it's getting after a 41-20 home win over then-No. 12 BYU in Week 3.

BYU was missing starting wide receivers Gunner Romney and Puka Nacua, a duo that accounts for roughly 60% of the team's receiving production when healthy. Additionally, the BYU defense felt the losses of Tyler Batty and Earl Tuioti-Mariner, two starting defensive linemen, as the Ducks ran for 212 yards (their second game with over 200 yards rushing) at 4.8 yards per carry.

Meanwhile, Washington State's defense held tough against the Wisconsin Badgers' prolific rushing attack. The Cougars held Braelon Allen to under 100 rushing yards for the second time over his previous 11 games. Also, their bend-but-don't-break defensive mentality paid huge dividends in a game when Washington State was outgained by 148 yards and was roughly 16 minutes behind in time of possession. Expect a similar scenario as Washington State limits Oregon's rushing attack.

Washington State backers will want to shop anywhere but DraftKings, as it's the only sportsbook currently offering a line of +6.

Oregon vs. Washington State O/U Pick

Over 57.5 (-107) ★★

With BYU missing its top two receivers and Eastern Washington's passing offense being generally ineffective, Oregon hasn't been challenged through the air over the last two weeks. That will change against Washington State quarterback Cameron Ward. He led all FBS quarterbacks in touchdown passes (47) and was third in yards (4,648) while playing for Incarnate Word in 2021.

The Ducks allowed Georgia quarterback Stetson Bennett to complete 80.6% of his pass attempts for 268 yards during their opener. The Bulldogs boast better perimeter weapons and a more balanced running game to take the pressure off the quarterback. But passing is how we expect the Cougars to attack an Oregon defense with one of the best linebacking corps in the country, with Noah Sewell leading the way.

Oregon vs. Washington State Prop Pick

First-half spread: Oregon -3.5 (-110) ★★★

Oregon is 0-4 against the spread during its last four road games, reinforcing my belief that Washington State will cover the full-game spread. However, I envision the Ducks starting strong, especially since quarterback Bo Nix is 7-12 in his career against ranked opponents, and he's won 16 of his 18 starts against unranked opponents. A wager like this does open up the possibility for a late backdoor cover, even if the Ducks are the more superior team over the first 30 minutes.

Oregon backers should make this play at DraftKings, as other sportsbooks like FanDuel are higher on the Ducks early with first-half lines of -4.
