A pair of teams undefeated in Big Ten play collide Saturday in Lincoln, and we have a free college football pick for the showdown between Nebraska and Wisconsin.

NCAAF Season Record: 13-17-1 (-5.15)

There are all sorts of ways to combine cheese and corn to delight your taste buds, but the only thing we want to taste when the Wisconsin Badgers and Nebraska Cornhuskers get together Saturday night in Lincoln is sweet victory at the pay window. Wisconsin is 11-point chalk at Bookmaker, other shops offering -11½, and the scoreboard target is 45½, with that tally down 3-4 points at most wagering outlets.

The is a huge game in the Big Ten West, where the Badgers and Cornhuskers are the only teams undefeated in conference play. It’s also the last real test for No. 9 Wisconsin until No. 7 Michigan comes to Madison in mid-November.

Can ‘Huskers Move Ball Against Wiscy D Without Bryant In Backfield?

Wisconsin relied on a strong running game and stifling defense the first three games, but coming out of a bye week last Saturday, Paul Chryst’s crew was stymied on the ground vs. Northwestern in a 33-24 win that did not cover the -16 spread on the NCAA football odds. Three turnovers didn’t help, but the defense turned in another strong performance to keep the Badgers undefeated at 4-0. With guard Jon Dietzen (leg) expected to start, Wisconsin’s biggest injury concern is tight end Troy Fumagalli. The senior leads the team in receptions, receiving yards and TD catches and is questionable with a leg injury.

It has been a similar story at Nebraska, where the defense has been solid, save for the loss at Oregon, and the ground game has been good enough to complement Tanner Lee and the aerial attack. Lee struggled in the losses to the Ducks and Northern Illinois, throwing seven picks in those affairs, but rebounded with a very nice performance at Illinois last week to give Nebraska a 2-0 start on the conference slate. The running game will be without top tailback Tre Bryant for a fourth straight game due to a knee injury.

Rivalry Trends, Mother Nature & A Free Pick

The Badgers and Huskers first got together in 1901, but didn’t develop a rivalry until Nebraska joined the Big Ten in 2011. Wisconsin has won the last four to lead 7-4 all-time, the Cornhuskers’ only conference win coming at home in 2012. Nebraska covered the last two meetings after Wisconsin won the cheese the first four clashes as league foes, four of those six going ‘over.’

Thunderstorms on Thursday and Friday could linger into Saturday for the Lincoln area, but the long-term forecast calls for clear skies and temps in the 60s for the contest. I’ve got to admit to being a bit on the fence about this one, but will lay the points with a better Badgers bunch for my free college football pick.

Free NCAAF Pick: Wisconsin -11

Best Line Offered: Bookmaker

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3187592, "sportsbooksIds":[93,43,1680,169,238], "LineTypeId":1, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]
