The Notre Dame Fighting Irish (7-4) and USC Trojans (7-4) are gearing up for their usual late season matchup. This game features a couple of very evenly matched teams and a better bowl game will be a stake for each team. See who we like in this matchup as the Trojans are a sizeable betting favorite.

Kickoff is set for Saturday at 3:30 pm ET at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, in Los Angeles, California. This game can be seen on the Fox Network.

Odds makers are expecting a lot of offense in this game as the NCAA football odds total for the game is listed at 62.5 points and the USC Trojans are a touchdown betting favorite. Notre Dame usually is on the road in this rivalry and that puts a bit of extra pressure on the Irish, but a win on the road can make the game more meaningful where bowl placement is concerned.

Both teams are bowl bound. Unfortunately, for USC they're in the wrong and more competitive division in the Pac-12 Conference and Notre Dame always seems to land a good bowl game off of name alone.

A Tall Order
Basically, USC had their season and Rose Bowl on the line in a tough spot at UCLA. In the end, the Bruins and quarterback Brett Hundley defeated the Trojans quite handily by the score of 38-20. UCLA's offense was too much for USC as the Bruins took over the game in the 2nd half and were outgained in yardage 461-276. USC quarterback, Cody Kessler, has been near perfect all season, but had one of his poorer outings.

Speaking of Cody Kessler, the quarterback matchup in this game, will be a very competitive one as it features two of the best quarterbacks in college football. Kessler has thrown for 3133 yards with 30 TD and just 4 INT. Kessler and the Trojans will be facing a Notre Dame team that's coming off of a tough 31-28 loss to the Louisville Cardinals.

Notre Dame senior quarterback, Everett Golson's numbers aren't as attractive as Kessler's but he can definitely get the job done in a hostile atmosphere. Earlier this season, Golson lit Arizona State up for 446 yards. This is a quarterback that took some time off during his career, but has faced the best of the best and that's where he might have a slight edge over Kessler.

Supporting Cast
Both quarterbacks are surrounded by talent and this definitely makes them better at their respective position on the field.

USC features the running, receiving combination of running back Javorious Allen (1244 yards, 9 touchdowns) and wide receiver Nelson Agholor (1103 yards, 10 touchdowns). Allen will definitely have something to prove in this game. After 8 out of 9 100 yard rushing game, Allen has rushed for only 60 yards apiece in each of his last 2 games. The one game that a Trojan wants to play well is against the UCLA Bruins. Unfortunately for the Trojans, it didn't work out that way.

After getting off to a a very slow start to the season, Agholor was catching everything in sight with 2 consecutive 200 yard receiving games. He then met a gamed Bruins team and also performed poorly with just 24 yards. USC will either have two discouraged superstars in Allen and Agholor or 2 motivated ones. I expect the USC offense to get back on track as the high betting total of 62.5 indicates.

Notre Dame might not feature that same firepower as USC, but sophomore wide receiver, William Fuller, is about to eclipse the 1000 yard receiving mark and has been very consistent this season.

Fuller knows how to find his way into the endzone as he's caught a touchdown pass in 10 out of 11 games and has 14 receiving touchdowns overall. Fuller has caught for 259 yards in his last 2 games, both which have went down to the wire and expect him to eclipse the 100 yard mark in the regular season finale on Saturday against USC.

Notre Dame has lost 4 out of their last 5 games and a couple of these games have been to inferior opponents. In this game, you have a couple of teams that are better than their record indicated, but a victory here is very important to their resume.

Outcome
For our NCAA football pick we should expect this game to go down to the wire. Although Cody Kessler has the far superior numbers at QB, sometimes numbers don't equate to victories. Look for Notre Dame to cover the large 7 point betting spread.
