The Northern Illinois Huskies and Western Michigan Broncos are priced in a toss-up by oddsmakers for Wednesday's showdown. Read on for our Northern Illinois-Western Michigan picks and predictions.

The Huskies have lost two in a row and seven of their last eight games. Yet, despite how bad they have been, they have played a few opponents tough on the road this season. They lost by just eight to Kentucky, seven to Ohio, and in double-overtime to Ball State.

The season hasn’t been much better for the Broncos. They are 3-6, and they just dropped a 13-9 game to Bowling Green in Week 10. They have switched up their quarterback a lot this season, and they have landed on Treyson Bourguet who has thrown for just 314 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in two games.

Northern Illinois vs. Western Michigan ATS Pick

Northern Illinois (-105) ★

It’s hard to trust either of these teams to win outright, which is exactly what oddsmakers are asking us to do with this line. However, we are going to lean toward the Huskies, because of how they have played their opponents this season. They do have some close losses to really good teams, and they have the more consistent offense of these two.

Though the Broncos are 1-1 since Bourguet took over as the starting QB, they have scored only 25 points. Their defense has been outstanding, which could cause problems for the Huskies’ offense, but to win you have to score points, and the Broncos are having a lot of trouble doing that.

Northern Illinois vs. Western Michigan O/U Pick

Under 50 (-110) ★★

The Huskies and Broncos have been involved in lower-scoring games of late, and we expect that trend to continue on Wednesday. Only two Huskies’ games have gone Under 50 this season, but those were two of their last three contests. The Broncos have only had three games reach 50 points this season.

The Under has hit in three consecutive Broncos’ games, and the total of their last two games combined was just 51. For the Huskies, the Under has hit in two of their last three, with the third game ending in a push.

Northern Illinois vs. Western Michigan Prop Pick

Under 24.5 points in first half (-106) ★★★

The Broncos’ last two games have barely cracked 24 points after 60 minutes, let alone by halftime. While the Huskies have seen higher-scoring games, their last two contests have had 21 and 16 points at halftime.

The last time the Huskies played, they didn’t score a single point in the first 30 minutes. If they continue to struggle offensively early, and the Broncos do offensively and defensively what they have done in recent weeks, then this first half may see a total that barely gets into double digits.
