Northern Illinois (-6) vs. Buffalo 8:00 ET
Northern Illinois travels to Buffalo where the Huskies will face the Bulls in this 8:00 pm ET. Each of these teams enters at 6-2 ATS with N. Illinois (+44) AFP and Buffalo (+36) AFP. As a result, this reduction in price is a direct reflection of the absence of QB Hare for the Huskies, who was injured in last week’s victory vs. Toledo and is finished for the season. Because of the configuration of divisional schedules, these two have not met since 2012. Perennial division winner N. Illinois from the West, has owned perennial also ran Buffalo in the East with a recent series mark of 8-0 SU with the average victory by 30 PPG.

Betting Preview
Buffalo is making a nice step forward with a 5-4 SU, 3-2 ATS log in MAC play. But, they have already lost to Bowling Green and trail the Falcons by 2 games for the division lead.  There is still motivation for the Bulls, who know they can get as many as 7 wins with games vs. Akron and UMass to close the season. Behind QB Licata, the Bulls are improved across the board for 1st year HC Lance Leipold.  Leipold brings a winning mentality to Buffalo, after a 109-6 SU record in Div. 3 Wisconsin-Whitewater, where his teams won 6 National Titles. He is best known as a defensive coach, which has shown this year with the Buffalo defense improving from 31 to 24 PPG. The Bulls will give a huge effort in this midweek MAC game that is an opportunity to showcase their program. It simply may not be enough against an NIU team, who controls their fate for division superiority.

Last week, in the face of injury to veteran starting QB Hare, this championship program rallied around Frosh QB Graham for a come-from-behind (32-27) victory against perennial challenger Toledo. It was their 6th straight win over the Rockets and a major reason why they have captured 5 straight MAC West titles. Outstanding road ability is another reason, as the Huskies enter tonight with a record of 13-4 ATS as road chalk.  Following the victory against Toledo, N. Illinois now controls their fate. A victory here tonight sets up a pair of home games against another serious division challenger W. Michigan next week, as well as the regular season finale at home against Ohio, an also ran from the MAC East.  Veteran Huskies have tripped only once in league play this year. That was a 4 TO debacle in a loss to C. Michigan when they were playing a 3rd consecutive road game, following narrow defeats at Ohio St. ad Boston College. With QB Graham having huge confidence from last week’s performance and the N. Illinois program having “been there, done that,” it is a high percentage side to take the Huskies tonight against a team they have dominated in series play.
