Our resident NHL handicapper breaks down Friday’s game between Edmonton and Chicago. We encourage you to read his revealing betting preview article on this contest which culminates with a totals selection.

Oilers a Huge Underdog at Chicago on Friday
The Chicago Blackhawks will be entertaining the Edmonton Oilers on Friday at 8:35 PM ET. According to the NHL betting odds at Pinnacle, Chicago is a mammoth -330 money line favorite, and the posted total is 5.5. These teams have met twice this season, both games took place in Edmonton, and Chicago won each of those contests, outscoring the Oilers by a cumulative score of 12-5. This head-to-head series has seen each of the five meetings go over the total since the start of the 2013-2014 NHL season.

Both Teams Well Rested
The Edmonton Oilers will be playing just their 3rd game in the last thirteen days. The Chicago Blackhawks enter tonight playing with three days of rest following a 5-2 home win over Carolina on Monday. Chicago has seen just one of their previous six games stay under the total when playing with three or more days rest.

Here Are Three Picks That Will Surely Help Increase Your Profit Tonight!

Lowly Oilers making Huge Profits on the Road of Late
Despite going under the total in four of their previous five games overall, Edmonton has seen seven of its last ten on the road go over the number. During their previous three road games, the Oilers have allowed opponents an average of 40.3 shots on goal per contest. Edmonton is allowing a large 3.5 goals per game in thirty-two road contests this season. Ben Scrivens is slated to be between the pipes for the Oilers tonight. He’s started both games versus Chicago this season, and has posted a horrible .794 save percentage in those outings. The Oilers are a dismal 8-24 against the money line on the road this season. Although, it must be noted, Edmonton has gone a very profitable 6-4 against the money line in their previous ten on the road, and made $100 per game money line bettors a profit of $890 during that time.

Hawks News
The Chicago Blackhawks have averaged a robust 38.2 shots on goal per game at home this season. That average doesn’t figure to diminish tonight against a porous defensive opponent like Edmonton. Corey Crawford is slated to be in goal tonight for Chicago, and he’s been less than sharp during his last four starts as evidenced by an unimpressive .892 save percentage during that time. The Blackhawks haven’t seen any of their previous five home games stay under the total.

Final Analysis
The Oilers have been far more competitive over the last few weeks than they’ve displayed all season long. The Hawks should have no problem generating consistent offensive pressure tonight, versus an Oilers team that certainly doesn’t hang their hats on stellar defensive play. I’m going to call for this game to be a high scoring affair, and that will be included as one of my NHL picks on Friday.

NHL Pick: Edmonton and Chicago to go over the total of 5.5 at Pinnacle.
