This week I’m taking 3 favorites based on specific coaching matchups I like. All 3 teams are proven winners in the record books as well as against the spread at the best betting sites. It’s been said many times, “good teams win, great teams cover.” That’s what I’m betting on this week. Great coaches with a history of winning and covering.

Purdue Boilermakers vs. Minnesota Gophers

Friday, November 20, 2020 – 7:30pm ET at TCF Bank Stadium

Purdue is one of the most exciting teams in college football this year. They have an offense that is explosive and dangerous. Their defense has been above average overall and done a great job stopping the run. I think they are much better than Minnesota.

The Gophers have been blown out in 2 of their 4 games and only has 1 win and it's against the worst team in the conference. They are averaging giving up over 35 points a game. Purdue will likely score more than that. A lot more. With your NCAAF Picks, take the Boilermakers and lay the points.

Houston Cougars vs. Southern Methodist Mustangs

Saturday, November 21, 2020 - 12:00pm ET at Gerald J. Ford Stadium

Editor’s note: This game was postponed because of COVID-19 protocols and injuries in Houston. No makeup date has been announced.

This is the biggest matchup of 2 of my favorite coaches in all of college football. SMU’s Sonny Dykes and Houston’s Dana Holgorsen are two coaches that have been around college football for a long time and both been very successful. This year their programs are in two very different positions.

SMU is peaking right now as Coach Dykes has his guys playing at the top of their game. Even in the face of missing some of their top tier players over the last few weeks, they have played great. The Cougars, on the other hand, have struggled this season to keep up with teams more talented and more athletic than them. I give a big edge to the Mustangs and willing to lay the points.

Cincinnati Bearcats vs. Central Florida Golden Knights

Saturday, November 21, 2020 - 3:30pm ET at Bounce House

All this season I’ve been on Cincinnati and I’m not getting off now. This is supposed to be their toughest task of the season so far, but somehow, I think it will look exactly like the SMU game finished and the Memphis game finished. The Bearcats holding their opponents to the lowest score of the season and doing whatever they want offensively to win and win handily. Coach Luke Fickell has built this team specifically to beat these types of teams.

For years Memphis, SMU, Houston, and UCF have dominated this conference all playing the exact same style of football. Speed, athleticism, up-tempo, and scoring as much as humanly possible. Cincinnati was at a major disadvantage in getting those types of athletes to come to the Midwest. So, he designed a team around slowing the game down and playing with power that would attack these fast, athletic teams. If you’ve been paying attention you know he’s done a masterful job at this. I think this weekend he will do it one more time. Take the Bearcats and lay the points at the top sportsbooks.
