Ohio State and Rutgers will both try to control the line of scrimmage Saturday, which makes the UNDER an attractive college football pick in this Big Ten matchup.

Step Up in Class
Rutgers will play its third game as a member of the Big Ten Conference, which is important to consider when looking over the college football odds, as it split its first two contests against Penn State and Michigan.

The Scarlet Knights have dropped six of their last seven games versus ranked opponents, while their opponent has not lost a conference game during the regular season under third-year head coach Urban Meyer.

Over the last two-plus seasons, the program is 0-4 SU and 3-1 ATS as underdogs of 10.5 to 21 points, with the UNDER going 3-1 in that situation.

Too Much Rest?
Ohio State has won three games in a row, as it was last seen picking up a 52-24 victory over the Maryland Terrapins as 6.5-point road favorites Oct. 4, while going OVER the college football odds betting total for the fourth time in five affairs.

The Buckeyes have won their last six games by an average of 18 points when coming off a regular season bye, but this is the second one they’ve gone through since the start of the 2014 campaign.

College football handicappers will find that the squad is 17-1 SU and 9-8-1 ATS at home since Meyer arrived on campus.

Super-Nova
Scarlet Knights quarterback Gary Nova ranks first nationally in averaging 17.2 yards per completion in first-year coordinator Ralph Friedgen’s system, but he may play this game without veteran center Betim Bujari.

Rutgers needs all the help it can get on the offensive line, as Ohio State possesses one of the top fronts in the country defensively—a group that has helped the unit rank 14th in surrendering just 314.4 yards per game.

Protecting Barrett
J.T. Barrett has put up tremendous numbers since landing atop the quarterback depth chart after Braxton Miller’s season-ending injury, as he paces the Big Ten in averaging 326.0 yards of total offense.

Ohio State is allowing 2.6 sacks per game, which can’t be ignored when making your college football betting picks, as its Week 8 opponent sits behind just two teams in racking up 24 total sacks.

Prediction
For my free college football picks I’m going to recommend that readers play the total as one of their top plays, as the UNDER is 11-1 in the Scarlet Knights’ last 12 road games versus a team with a winning home record.
