College football analyst Ross Benjamin, with a 40-20 (67%) record, details a pair of successful college football betting angles for games being played on Saturday. Be sure to read this betting article which highlights college football point spreads picks.

Pros and Cons on Week 13 Anemic Scoring Teams

Each week I look at some early college football betting angles that are applicable to a couple of upcoming games. This week I’ve identified 2 teams that have performed horribly on offense in their recent games. One of these teams is in a rare but extremely favorable wagering situation. Unfortunately for other, they’re on the opposite side of the spectrum and should be a play against when making your college football week 13 picks.

Tulane Green Wave vs. Connecticut Huskies

Connecticut is coming off 3 consecutive losses in which they scored 3 points or less. The Huskies will be facing a Tulane team which enters its final regular season game with a 3-8 (.272) record. This sets up a somewhat unique but extremely profitable betting situation.

Any team (Tulane) with a .250 or better win percentage, and is facing an opponent (Connecticut) coming off 3 straight losses in which they scored 3 points or less in each game, resulted in those teams going 9-0 straight up since 1980. The average victory margin in those 9 contests was a quite sizable 27.1 points per game. That certainly is good enough reason to make the Green Wave one of my early college football weeks 13 predictions.

Rutgers Scarlet Knights vs. Maryland Terrapins

Maryland has lost their last 3 games and scored 7 points or less in each of those contests. Yet, the current (11/21) college football betting odds at has Maryland as a 13.5-point home favorite against Rutgers. The Terrapins are coming off a 28-7 Big Ten Conference loss at Nebraska last Saturday.

Any favorite (Maryland) coming off 3 straight losses in which they scored 7 points or less in each game, and their previous contest was against a conference opponent, resulted in those favorites going 11-0 SU&ATS since 1982. The average line was 9.4, and the margin of victory was 16.4 points per game.

There’s no question Maryland has looked awful in this final regular season stretch of the game. Nonetheless, Rutgers enters this week with a record of 2-9, and that includes a current 7-game losing streak. All 7 of those Scarlet Knights defeats came against Big Ten opponents, and came by an average of 36.6 points per contest, including being victims of a shutout on 4 separate occasions.
