There are a lot of games to choose from, and there are five which start out the schedule this Saturday. Here are the best college football picks, one of them a home-team game.

Arizona Wildcats vs. New Mexico Lobos
This is a game in which the Wildcats are going to get back the two players they count on for offense more than any others. Linebacker Scooby Wright and quarterback Anu Solomon were injured for much of the regular season, Wright in particular. Both missed multiple games in a season when the Wildcats did not have a bye – they played games on 12 straight weekends, something which caught up with them as the season moved along. Now that Arizona has had a lot of time in which to rest and regroup, the Wildcats will have their best players on the field, and when teams have the best players on the field, they generally do win. New Mexico is playing this game on its home field, so that is something to watch for. However, Arizona is finally a lot healthier than it was for most of the regular season, so the Wildcats should be the choice here for your college football picks on Saturday.

Ohio Bobcats vs. Appalachian State Mountaineers
The key point to make here is that Ohio scored a big win on the road late in the season against a Northern Illinois team that was coming on very strong. Northern Illinois was playing with a backup quarterback, so a lot of bettors are banking on the idea that Appalachian State is playing an overrated team. Ohio is felt to have been the beneficiary of an opponent’s weakness. However, Ohio still won that game on the road on a night when it was not expected to win. The Bobcats showed a lot about how good and how resilient they actually are. Ohio appears to be underrated and overlooked heading into this game. The Bobcats have to love how off the radar they are in this game, with few people giving them any respect. Bowl teams love that kind of situation. Take Ohio plus the points on the college football odds and consider a straight-up victory.

BYU Cougars vs. Utah Utes
It’s a game in which BYU’s coach is out the door. Bronco Mendenhall is going to the University of Virginia, so this is his last game with the Cougars. BYU suffered a blow the other day when Navy coach Ken Niumatalolo, a Mormon, announced that he would not be the team’s new head coach. That’s probable a blow to morale, right before this game starts. BYU might start with a lot of energy, but if anything goes wrong for the Cougars, the game could get out of hand. Utah is in better position to win than BYU. The Utes are a stronger and tougher team at the line of scrimmage, and they have fewer distractions to work with on their coaching staff.
