Working Backwards Through an Honest, Predicted Final Score Can Be a Good Way to Evolve as a Sports Gambler

One progressive way of approaching a high-profile Football game which has Proposition Bets and Alternate Point Spreads and Totals offered on it like the NFL’s Super Bowl or NCAA Football CFP Championship Game, is to work backwards from your Final Score and then plug in the bets to fit the theoretical mathematical reality you think will end up happening. And doing this before you see a Point Spread or Total posted or hearing any other media or people’s perceptions or predictions can be beneficial in the long run, with so many lemmings quickly adopting the same opinion and positions on specific game’s after talking to each other or forming some kind of Groupthink stance on the game, and then all betting together like one big happy family of Sports Gambling lemmings. If it sounds Orwellian, it’s because it seems it is.

And granted, it’s hard to quickly formulate your own opinion and try and come up with a precise Final Score for games with so much damn Information coming at us seemingly instantaneously in The Digital Age. But maybe try it sometimes if you can find the 2,222 seconds, because once those Point Spreads and Totals are out, your Mind plays funny tricks with the Numbers it sees and processes—and that’s before you’ve heard any of the Talking Heads chirping their chirp. Making your own numbers and coming up with your own imagined Final Scores can be a decent way to grow as a sports gambler and evolve into a bettor that doesn’t have to rely on the pack.

Anyway, enough sports gambling philosophy and esoteric crap, for we are gathered here today to talk about this thing called the 2018 CFP Championship Game and approaching the game through the Alternate Point Spread and Alternate Totals niche markets offered by creative Offshore sportsbook 5Dimes. The current “normal” Point Spread for Monday’s 2018 CFP National Championship from Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta (ESPN, 8:45 pm EST/5:45 pm PST) is Alabama -4 with the Total at 45 (5Dimes)—down 1 point in the last three hours on midweek Sharp money likely—with Jalen Hurts, Calvin Ridley and the Crimson Tide -185 Favorites on the Moneyline with Nick Chubb, Sony Michel and Georgia priced as +160 as Underdogs in the biggest possible SEC showdown. Here are current Alternate Point Spread and Alternate Totals—there was solid movement on Under money on Thursday—from 5Dimes for the big game between #3 Georgia (13-1 SU, 10-4 ATS) and #4 Alabama (12-1 SU, 6-7 ATS). Still, as Head Coach Scott Frost, QB McKenzie Milton and 13-0 AAC monster UCF proved, we truly need 8 teams in this great CFP Playoff and not 4.

Georgia Will Be Looking to Pound the Football Through Tandem of Talented RBs Chubb, Michel on Monday Night

To get to this CFP National Championship Game in the FBS—the FCS will determine its champion on Saturday (Jan. 6) when James Madison and North Dakota State collide in the FCS Championship Game for all of the FCS marbles at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas (ESPN2, 12 pm EST/9 am PST; NDSU -4, 48, 5Dimes)—Alabama humbled defending National Champions Clemson in the Sugar Bowl while Georgia rallied to defeat Heisman Trophy winner Baker Mayfield and Oklahoma in Overtime in the highest-scoring Rose Bowl ever on New Year’s Day as Sony Michels scored 4 TDs for the Bulldogs and seemed unstoppable with his hands on the pigskin. Although scoring points won’t come as easily against the Crimson Tide and their #1 Scoring Defense (11.1 ppg), Michel (15 TDs), QB Jake Fromm (23 Passing TDs), RB Nick Chubb (16 TDs), WR javon Wims (7 TDs) and WR Terry Godwin (6 TDs) provide more than enough options to try to keep this now healthy Alabama Defense off balance and should put 3 TDs and 2 FGs on the scoreboard in a spot like this on a clean surface and indoors.

The Georgia Offense (36.3 ppg #17) will want to show it’s not intimidated by the Alabama Defense but Fromm & Company will have to establish some sort of Passing attack to help let its dangerous Rushing attack, through Chubb and Michel, thrive. And with QB Jalen Hurts (17 Passing TDs, 1 INT, 8 Rushing TDs), RB Bo Scarbrough (8 TDs), RB Damien Harris (11 TDs) and WR Calvin Ridley (4 TDs), the Crimson Tide Offense (37.9 ppg, #12) should also be able to muster 3 TDs and a FG with an Alabama Defensive TD (Minkah Fitzpatrick, Da’Ron Payne, Mack Wilson) or a Special Teams TD (Henry Ruggs III, Trevon Diggs) possibly being the difference-maker in this 2018 CFP National Championship Game. Crimson Tide Head Coach Nick Saban (79-62-1 ATS) is 11-0 SU against his past Assistants who have gone on to NCAA Football Head Coaching careers of their own—Georgia Head Coach Kirby Smart (16-10 ATS) coached under Saban in Tuscaloosa from 2007 to 2015 before heading to Athens—with the minimum margin of victory in those 11 games being 14 points. This one should be darn good.
