All the chirping in the media of West Virginia’s impenetrable defense now litters the landscape like empty Halloween candy wrappers after the Mountaineers went down to Stillwater. Let’s look at that game and see what else we learned from the chaos this past weekend in Week 9 from teams who play their College Football east of the Mississippi River.

#10 West Virginia Humbled in Stillwater by Gundy's Cowboys, Big 12’s CFP Chances Going Down Drain

Heading into NCAAF Week 10, the Big 12 Conference was holding onto some small hope that maybe either then-unbeaten Baylor or West Virginia could somehow run the table and have one make it into the College Football Playoff, but after Saturday, it now seems a longshot. Much attention was being paid to #10 West Virginia—despite having to play Oklahoma State, Texas, Oklahoma and Baylor still—but the Cowboys soundly defeated the Mountaineers at Homecoming in Stillwater. Well, at least College Basketball season is just around the corner, Morgantown.

#3 Clemson Survives #12 FSU in ACC Slugfest, #2 Ohio State Hangs On vs. Feisty Northwestern

Heisman Trophy candidate Deshaun Watson and unbeaten and #3 Clemson (8/1 to win NCAA Championship at BetOnline—which offers a 50% Free Play Bonus—rallied to remain unbeaten (8-0) beat electric Dalvin Cook and host #12 Florida State, 37-34, as 5-point favorites (Heritage). The Tigers and head Coach Dabo Swinney have now W17 of 18 and will probably head into the ACC Championship Game (Dec. 3, Camping World Stadium in Orlando) undefeated and look very suited to be on of the four teams playing on New Year’s Eve.
