We learned in week 12 that Houston is a very good team while Big Ten powerhouses #2 Ohio State and #3 Michigan survived scares from Michigan State and Indiana respectively. Let’s look at all bet-worthy things that happened east of Old man River.

Houston Cracks #6 Louisville, #1 Alabama, #2 OSU, #3 Michigan, #4 Clemson Win Saturday, Don't Cover ATS

Greg Ward and Houston reminded Lamar Jackson and #5 Louisville Thursday night nobody comes to H-town and beats the Cougars as the Cardinals (18 Fumbles lost, #1 FBS) were humbled, 36-10, losing outright as 17-point underdogs (HOU +700 M/L, BetDSI), denting their College Football Playoff chances as Houston won for the 15th straight time at Home.

On Saturday in week 12, the top four ranked teams all won, with #1 Alabama (12.2 ppg, #2 Scoring Defense) winning its 23rd straight, with the Crimson Tide (8-3 ATS) awakening after trailing 3-0 after 1Q to beat Chattanooga, 31-3 (ALA -48½) while #2 Ohio State survived at Michigan State, 17-16 after Spartans Head Coach Mark Dantonio went for a 2-point conversion late (OSU -24½) and #3 Michigan—at Ohio State Saturday (ABC, 12 p.m. EST; OSU -7½ -105, 5Dimes)—also found a way to victory in Ann Arbor against a gallant Indiana side, 20-10 (MICH -24). Deshaun Watson (5/1 to win Heisman Trophy, Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook) and #4 Clemson defeated Wake Forest, 35-13 (CLEM -24) which means the CFP rankings—revealed Tuesday in the CFP Top 25 Rankings (ESPN, 7 p.m. EST)—will likely be exactly the same.

#7 Badgers Drink Boilermakers in Madtown, #21 Western Michigan Rolls on Snowy GameDay

#7 Wisconsin continued to play great Defense (12.7 ppg, T-#3 in FBS) and cover ATS (9-2) as the Badgers pounded Purdue, 49-20 (WIS -28) meaning three of the top seven schools in the FBS are from the Big Ten as well as three of the top four Scoring Defenses (MICH, OSU, WIS). And #21 Western Michigan (10-0 SU) blanked Buffalo, 38-0, covering (WM -35) on its last drive of the game in snowy Kalamazoo. The Broncos have the best Point Spread Record in FBS since 2014, going 26-11 ATS (70.3%).

Department of Trends: Pittsburgh Overs, Temple ATS Both Improve to 9-1 on Season

The Over has W9 straight in Pitt games after Saturday’s 56-14 win over Duke (61), the Under is 9-2 in Cincinnati games while Temple improved to an FBS-best 9-1 ATS with its 31-0 shutout at Tulane (TEMP -15). The top five teams in the CFP rankings last week were all from east of the Mississippi River (Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, Clemson, Louisville) and none of them covered ATS.
