The Vandals have struggled against better defenses; Idaho will see another stingy defense in Lafayette. This makes for a low point forecast according to our capper Drew Martin.

The Idaho Vandals visit the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin Cajuns Saturday for a game that will have major bowl eligibility implications. Both teams are coming off a bye week, Idaho will benefit from a traveling standpoint and the Cajuns will likely benefit immensely due to all the injuries this team has endured. ULL has been a disappointment this year mainly due to their offensive inability to put up points. Alternatively, Idaho has struggled on the defensive side of the ball giving up 30 or more points in all but one game this year. It will be a clash of styles Saturday afternoon in Lafayette, leaving us with some value on the total.

The Ragin Cajuns starting QB Anthony Jennings transferred toLouisiana-Lafayette this offseason from LSU. The graduate transfer has not had an easy transition. Already totaling seven interceptions with only 9 touchdowns through seven games. He was relieved of his duties against New Mexico State in favor of the backup Jalen Nixon, who then got injured for the season shortly after the change. Coach Hudspeth then forced to stay with Jennings, who has been slow on reads and progression all season long. The lack of offensive production has been hidden a bit in the betting markets due to 2 overtime outcomes YTD that pushed the totals over on each occasion. ULL sits at 3-4 and is two tough breaks from being 5-2 due to their stingy defense. Mike Lucas took over as the DC in week 2 after the dismissal of the former coordinator Melvin Smith, since Hudspeth made the change the Ragin Cajuns have been one of the top defenses in the Sunbelt.

The Vandals offensive numbers are good, Matt Lindehan is in his third year as the starter and is a very talented QB. Although, most of the success in offensive statistics came against lesser competition. Outside of UNLV, ULM and New Mexico State the Vandals have struggled to move the ball. Each time Idaho was asked to step up in class vs PAC 12 competition or face the better defenses in the Sunbelt (Troy, App St.) it has been ugly offensively. ULL defiantly compares to Troy and App St. on the defensive side of the ball over ULM or NMSU.

Homecoming in Lafayette has all the ingredients for a low scoring Sunbelt matchup where we likely see a heavy dose of Elijah McGuire and the run game keeping the clock moving. Ultimately, making the total score fall short of 55 for my college football pick.
