Washington needs a win to be in the College Football Playoffs, so in a way this game is much more important to them that the Buffaloes. Should you back them? Troy West gives us his thoughts and a NCAAF pick.

Colorado Buffaloes vs Washington Huskies

Win and you’re in. Simple as that, Huskies. After the USC loss, Washington, and Chris Peterson have responded in style; blowing out Arizona State and dismantling the Washington State in the Apple Cup. Not many teams have been able to limit and totally outplay the Coug’s this year but the Huskies basically had the game sewn up in the 1st quarter.

Take nothing away from Colorado who have also had an exemplary year under Mike MacIntyre. An unexpected renaissance of a dormant program and MacIntyre deserves tons of credit for his accomplishments. This will be one step too far, though. Peterson’s the savvier coach, in comparison to MacIntyre and the talent Peterson has at his disposal is of another level.Overall, the Buffs’ have had the easier schedule and the games against talented teams they’ve lost. Michigan, USC for example, they’ve not played the cream of the crop.

Colorado are wholly dependent upon Sefo Liufau. Something which the Husky defense will be motivated to take apart. Liufau relies on running the ball with throwing a total secondary outlet and that Husky defense will relish the task. Colorado and Liufau struggle to move the ball against top tier defenses as referenced in both the Utah and USC games this year. I love Phillip Lindsay but running the ball on the Huskies is tough. The Buffs’ totally rely on getting excellent field position and turnovers from their excellent defense.

That matchup also doesn’t benefit the Buffs’. There’s only one team who have been able to deal with Jake Browning, Myles Gaskin, John Ross III and Dante Pettis this year and in my opinion, they’re the 2nd best team in College Football. Stopping that quartet in their form right now is going to be outrageously difficult. Basically, Colorado is a gritty football team and the Huskies are straight talented. Big play ability and experience is going to be a gigantic part of this football match.

The Huskies have big playmakers and that’s one area where the Buffs’ fall short. On the year, Peterson’s outfit have 5 non-offensive touchdowns and have allowed 0. They also have combined for 14 touchdowns of 40+ yards and only allowed 4.MacIntyre’s outfit also have no single player who has appeared in a bowl game and that disparity in experience is another gigantic edge for Peterson and the Huskies.

This is a game of total opposites throughout. Talent level, motivation, coaching, experience are all in favor of the Huskies. The incentive for Washington is cataclysmic compared to Colorado’s need. There’s no real way for Colorado to win this game, they’re outmatched everywhere. For my College Football pick, you should expect a scoreline around 45-24. Take Washington -7.0.

Remember to drop by SBR's list of the best-ranked bonuses, and find out which of the top rated sportsbooks is offering the best deals!

Free College Football Pick: Washington -7

Best Line Offered: at Bookmaker

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":3121839, "sportsbooksIds":[93,1096,19,238,1275], "LineTypeId":1, "PeriodTypeId":1 }[/]
