We’re going to defer to our trusted college football handicapping professional for his opinion regarding Saturday’s game between Louisville and North Carolina State. Go inside to read this revealing betting preview article that culminates with a point spread pick.

Louisville travels to Tobacco Road to face NC State
North Carolina State will entertain ACC rival Louisville on Saturday. The opening kickoff at Carter-Finley Stadium in Raleigh, North Carolina is slated for 12:30 PM ET. Current (9/29) college football betting odds indicate that NC State is a 4.5 point favorite across the board. Louisville was a 30-18 home winner over NC State last year. It was the Cardinals inaugural season as an ACC member.

Disappointing Start for the Cardinals
Louisville has got off to an inauspicious 1-3 start to their 2015 season. They were able to capture their first win of the year last Saturday in a 45-3 blowout victory over Samford (FCS). If you’re looking at the Cardinals three losses through rose colored glasses, those three narrow defeats came by scores of 31-24 to Auburn, 34-31 versus Houston, and 20-17 against Clemson. That’s three losses by a combined thirteen points, and with any luck they could realistically be 3-1 or 4-0 at this juncture.

Dream Start
North Carolina State has begun the season in impressive fashion, going 4-0 SU&ATS in their first four, and won those contests by an average of 34.3 points per game. However, it must be noted, the level of competition they faced was far from imposing. Those opponents included Eastern Kentucky (FBS), Troy, Old Dominion, and South Alabama. The Wolfpack have only committed 1 turnover in their first four games, and they’ll be facing an opponent on Saturday with 10 takeaways on the season.

Final Analysis
This not only appears to be a trap game for the home favorite, it also seems similar for prospective bettors. Looking at this matchup on the surface, the novice bettor is sure to feel he’s getting an absolute steal with NC State as a reasonably small favorite. I beg to differ. This looks like a sucker play if I ever saw one. How’s it possible that a home team that’s gone 4-0 SU&ATS in their first four games is just a 4.5 point favorite versus a 1-3 opponent? Get back to me whenever you have time to think about that question. In the meantime, give me Louisville plus the points for one of my college football picks.
