The Florida State Seminoles haven’t lost at home to an ACC Atlantic Division opponent under their current head coach, as they prepare to take on the NC State Wolfpack Saturday. Where are we placing our college football picks in this Saturday showdown?

Let’s take a closer look at the college football odds for this Week 9 matchup at Doak Campbell Stadium, with the opening kickoff scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.

Take a look at our SBR's College Football Picks for Week 9 Betting Odds Report

Off a bye

NC State has won six of its last 10 games played after a bye week, while first-year head coach Dave Doeren posted a 2-0 record after an open date during his time at Northern Illinois.

The Wolfpack will be aiming to snap a two-game losing streak, which includes a 24-10 defeat to the Syracuse Orange as 6.5-point home favorites Oct. 12, as they were out-gained by 233 yards on the ground in that affair.

Over the last two-plus seasons, the program is 3-8 SU and 2-8-1 ATS on the road, with the UNDER going 7-4 in that situation.

Dominating performance

Florida State returns home after picking up a 51-14 victory over the Clemson Tigers as five-point road favorites last Saturday—landing the program in the No. 2 spot in the first release of the BCS standings.

The Seminoles have outscored ACC opponents 425-146 during their 10-game conference winning streak, while they own a 210-32 advantage in the second and third quarters overall during the 2013 campaign.

Recruiting wars

College football handicappers need to respect the road underdog in this spot, as the Wolfpack are actively recruiting in the Sunshine State, while they’ve split the last eight meetings in this series.

NC State has 10 players on its roster hailing from Florida, with nine of them being signed by Doeren.

Defense is getting overshadowed

The national sports media is fascinated with Seminoles quarterback Jameis Winston, who threw for 444 yards last week against the Tigers, but more attention should be given to what the program is doing on the other side of the football.

Florida State has held opponents to 11.5 points per game at home since head coach Jimbo Fisher took over in 2010.

I’m going to recommend that readers back a Wolfpack cover with their College Football picks, as I think that the odds makers have set the bar a bit too high for Florida State in this ACC battle.
