The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs have demonstrated the ability to be more balanced offensively this season, which provides them value against the North Texas Mean Green Thursday night.

Life On the Road
Louisiana Tech will play its third consecutive road game to start the season, as it comes off a 48-20 victory over the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns as 16-point road underdogs, while going OVER the betting total for a second straight affair.

The Bulldogs have compiled a 6-11 SU record in non-Saturday games since moving to the Division I level in 1989, which is important to consider when making your Week 3 college football picks, but only five of those have been played since 1995.

Over the last two-plus seasons, the program is 8-6 SUATS on the road, with the OVER going 9-5 in that situation.

Deep in the Heart of Texas
North Texas won’t travel outside the Lone Star State until Oct. 4, as it looks to build off a 43-6 victory over the SMU Mustangs as 2.5-point home favorites last week, while going OVER the betting total of 45.

The Mean Green have forced at least one turnover in 18 consecutive games, which can’t be ignored when looking over the college football odds, but the Bulldogs have committed just a single turnover in their first two contests.

Since 2012, the squad is 2-0 SUATS as home favorites of 3.5 to 7 points, with both games going UNDER the total.

Solid Play Out of Sokol
Entering the season, Bulldogs’ signal-callers had played a combined nine games throughout their careers, but Iowa Hawkeyes transfer Cody Sokol has played solid in the early going.

In making his second career start, Sokol set a career-high in passing yards with 295, and tied his career-high with 22 completions.

Louisiana Tech has a chance to be dynamic offensively if his strong play continues, especially with junior Kenneth Dixon in the backfield, who comes off recording his eighth carer game with multiple rushing touchdowns.

Still a Lot of Question Marks
The Mean Green gained 353 yards of total offense against the Mustangs, which was a huge improvement in comparison to their 94 yards in that statistical category in a 38-7 loss to the Texas Longhorns as 20.5-point road underdogs in Week 1.

It’s important to point out that North Texas is replacing its leading passer and rusher from a year ago, which means the unit will need some time to put things together.

There’s no question that the school benefited greatly in causing five turnovers last week, but starting quarterback Josh Greer has still only completed 11 of 23 passes for 94 yards this season.

Prediction
I’m going to recommend that readers back the Bulldogs as one of their Week 3 college football picks, as they’ve covered the number in 16 of their last 22 road games.
