Offense lacking in the Georgia Dome for Sunbelt Conference Action, and that means that ULM and Georgia State are not putting much numbers on the board. Here's our free NCAAF Pick.

NCAAF YTD: 11-11

Last Week: 1-1

The Georgia State Panthers host the UL Monroe Warhawks in a battle of two teams that are going to fall short of bowl eligibility in 2016. ULM has had a season to forget under 1st year head coach Matt Vaitor, including losing their starting quarterback Garrett Smith four weeks ago. In the two weeks following the injury to the signal caller the Warhawks totaled only 182 yards passing in two games combined. The lack of offense is something Georgia State can relate too, the Panthers have only put up 19 offensive points in their last two games out. It’s not a leap of faith to say that defense should be dominant on Saturday in the Georgia Dome.

Georgia State has carried over last year’s defensive prowess into this year’s campaign. Led by defensive backs Chandon Sullivan, Bobby Baker and Bryan Williams who headline a secondary that leads the Sun Belt in pass defense and is tied for second nationally with five touchdown passes allowed.  The Panther defensive line is one of the best in the conference as well, the unit totaled 5 sacks last time out vs Arkansas State.

The Warhawk offense has been nonproductive since losing Garrit Smith, although last game showed a bit of a spark when they made the switch to the true freshman to lead the offense. The duel threat QB touched South Alabama as ULM totaled 42 points. With a week of film out on freshman Caleb Evens Georgia State should be able to contain Evans who performed well in his first collegiate start, showed the athleticism and good decision making (threw just one interception) that has made him a popular choice on the bayou.

Ultimately, the hype about Caleb Evans will be short lived and the success he showed last week against an inferior defensive unit in comparison to what he will be up against this week vs Georgia State will go by the waste side. Georgia State’s offense is not likely to put up big numbers, only going over the 3 TD mark once the last month and that was against an FCS foe. We have some value here on the under in this Sunbelt showdown. Best shopped line is under 52 (-115) at Bovada.
