With their starting QB Chad Kelly back at the helm for Ole Miss, the Rebels look to make some noise this year in the SEC. Today they take on a very talented Florida State team, will they be able to beat Mississippi by more than a touchdown?

Ole Miss Rebels
Starting quarterback Chad Kelly threw for 4042 yards and 31 touchdowns last season making him the top returning quarterback in the SEC. Across the board at the skill positions, the Rebels have some good talent to work alongside Kelly including senior running back Akeem Judd and senior tight in Evan Ingram. The issue for them offensively will be on the line where it looks like there will be starting three sophomores and a freshman.

This could prove troublesome today against a fast and athletic Florida State defense that flies to the ball. On the defensive side, there is some talent returning up front like defensive end Marquise Haynes who had 10 sacks last season. They do have some new faces though at the inside linebacker position which right now remains a bit of a question mark. In the secondary, they should be fine but there might be a little bit of a learning curve as they replace two starting safeties. This is a really talented team but the offensive line is what gives me pause when breaking them down today as they take on a very talented across the board Seminoles team.

Florida State Seminoles
Dalvin Cook returns for Florida State and rushed for 1691 yards which were a season record for the Seminoles. Although it looks like they will be starting a freshman in Deondre Francois I don't believe that will be an issue for them offensively as he is extremely talented. On the offensive side of the ball, Florida State has seven players returning up front including an All-American candidate in Roderick Johnson at left tackle. Along with Cook at running back the Seminoles also have depth at the receiver position and overall offensively look to improve on what was already a pretty dangerous offense last season.

On the defensive side of the ball, they also have a lot of experience both upfront and in the secondary and ranked ninth nationally in scoring defense allowing teams just 17.5 points per game last season. Like Mississippi, they will have a couple of question marks at the inside linebacker position but the talent overall is there. This team across the board is really talented and is predicted to do big things this season. Jimbo Fisher should be liking the outlook of this team.

Final Analysis
NCAA football odds right now have Florida State as a -6 favorite like at 5 dimes -105. For my NCAA college football pick, I'm going to back Florida State in this spot to win this game by more than a touchdown. Although Mississippi has their starting quarterback back this season their offensive line might struggle in the first few games and Florida State has a lot of returners on what was already a talented team. Look for the game to be pretty tight in the first half but for Florida State to get ahead in the second half and hold Mississippi to a reasonable number with their good defense.
