The college football season has slowly made its way to the second week of November. Which games offer the promise of seeing offenses or defenses live up to their potential?

Michigan Wolverines vs. Indiana Hoosiers
This is a game in which the defenses should be able to do really well. Michigan’s defense was one of the best in the country through the first month and a half of the season, but in recent weeks, it has fallen off. Is this a temporary thing or a permanent thing? It feels a lot more temporary than ingrained. Michigan was playing extremely physical football for a long time, and the recent Minnesota game in which the team barely won was the first game after the heartbreaking loss to Michigan State on the final play of the fourth quarter. The team was still trying to rebound mentally from that loss when it played Minnesota. Michigan looked better on defense against Rutgers. The Wolverines, facing an Indiana team which isn’t nearly as strong in the trenches, should be able to hold Indiana under 20 points. If that happens, don’t expect Michigan to score 40 points. Jake Rudock has been injured at quarterback. The Wolverines have had to reconsider how they handle the quarterback position. It has not been a team strength to begin with, so a huge scoreboard total is not likely. This is a good under choice.

Clemson Tigers vs. Syracuse Orange
The big thing to note in this game is that Clemson’s defense is playing really well. The Tigers allowed just 13 points to Florida State even though the Seminoles were able to get 194 rushing yards out of running back Dalvin Cook. Clemson just doesn’t give up many points, and since the Tigers scored only 23 points last week against Florida State, they might not be in rhythm to the extent that they need to be. It’s reasonable to expect Clemson to get around 42 points in this game, but Syracuse probably won’t score more than 10, which is the real reason why an under pick makes sense. Clemson will have to score in the 50s to make this bet become an over. That’s not an easy thing to assume. Go under the college football odds.

Kentucky Wildcats vs. Vanderbilt Commodores
It’s true that every matchup is different, and you can’t automatically assume one thing in one game and guarantee that it will happen against another opponent the next week. However, Vanderbilt scored just seven points in its last game and Kentucky scored three. These teams’ offenses are not average or even below average. They are horrible. It’s going to be such a struggle for them all game long. Only a few defensive or special teams touchdowns will push this game over. You should take the under with your college football picks.
