The Arizona State Sun Devils are coming off a huge win at UCLA when they stunned the No. 7 team in the country. Does that mean they’ll have a letdown against the Colorado Buffalos this week?

The Buffaloes played Oregon to a halftime tie, but then got blown out in the second half and lost by 17, 41-24. The Buffaloes were too slow on defense to contain the Oregon offense. That’s something a lot of other teams share, but Colorado watched Utah make Oregon look very slow the week before, so the Buffaloes – who had scored a very meaningful win in September against Colorado State, had a right to expect that they could push Oregon in four very close quarters. That Colorado played only one complete half and wilted in the third quarter should be very disappointing to the Buffaloes as they try to move up in the ranks in the Pac-12. This team has to find a way to bounce back against Arizona State.

The Sun Devils are coming off a big game in which they, unlike Colorado, truly seized an opportunity. Arizona State looked like the good team which took the field for most of 2014. Quarterback Mike Bercovici ran coach Todd Graham’s offense with decisiveness and, most importantly, speed. ASU dictated the tempo of the game and was able to play with more physicality than UCLA on the road. The Sun Devils gained all the rhythm and confidence they had been lacking throughout the month of September. The defense made it hard for UCLA’s offense to feel comfortable, so even though Bercovici was in a groove, the story of the game was really Arizona State’s ability to perform well on both sides of the line of scrimmage. This could be a catapult for the team heading into the rest of the season.

Line Moves
The college football odds started with Arizona State as a 15-point choice, and that line has remained in place thus far. Bettors are probably wanting to study more of Arizona State’s win over UCLA, to see whether it was an indicator that the Sun Devils are for real again, or if this was a one-game departure and a tease, something which should not be read into with too much confidence. That’s a key question people have to wrestle with.

Notable Injuries
Colorado has offensive tackle Jeromy Irwin out for the season with a knee injury. Linebacker Addison Gillam is questionable with a knee injury. Running back Michael Adkins II is questionable with a hamstring injury.

Arizona State has tight end Dan Vear listed as questionable for this game with an undisclosed condition. Free safety Armand Perry is questionable with an ankle injury. Wide receiver Frederick Gammage is questionable with an arm injury. Linebacker Marcus Ball is questionable with an illness. Wide receiver Jalen Harvey is going to miss this game with a collarbone injury.

Handicapping The Game
The Sun Devils have been a good team in 2013 and 2014. That they came alive against UCLA suggests that they have righted the ship and will play really well in this game. Take the Sun Devils with your college football picks.
