Which two college football ATS picks should we add to our tickets for Friday night? Let's break down the betting odds in the upcoming slate.

Marshall Thundering Herd vs. Southern Miss Golden Eagles
The Thundering Herd have won three consecutive games as they get set to host Southern Miss in one of Friday's night's two Division I battles.

When we look over the College Football Odds, we see Marshall favored by a field goal on their home turf. Various sportsbooks have a line of three and a half available for those that believe Southern Miss is the right side. As of now we see a total of 56 on the board, though 56.5 is also there for the taking at some outlets.

So far it's been a reasonably successful season for the Thundering Herd. Their one setback came against Ohio, but that since that loss they've overcome Norfolk State (45-7), Kent State (36-29) and then Old Dominion, who they beat 27-7 at home. Individually, Chase Litton has done a nice job at the helm of offense, posting a 8:2 TD:INT ratio, and he's spread the love around to a number of receivers. Devon Johnson is the stud on this offense but has been banged up lately, although it's looking like he'll be able to go against Southern Miss.

That's good news for the Thundering Herd, considering the Golden Eagles have done some great things offensively this season. They're averaging 40.0 points (#29 in the nation) per game, with Nick Mullens already throwing 14 touchdown passes and the likes of Jalen Richard, Ito Smith, Casey Martin and Michael Thomas among others all contributing in the offense.

As for a pick tonight, there's no doubt Marshall will be boosted by the impending return of Devon Johnson, but this Southern Miss offense is pretty potent, and we think they'll be able to hang around. With that said, we'll jump on that 3.5 line and back the Golden Eagles to cover as road underdogs.

Virginia Tech Hokies vs. NC State Wolfpack
We've already broken down this game in a more extensive fashion, but it never hurts to re-visit a game later in the week to see if anything has changed.

The NCAA football odds board has Virginia Tech favored by 1.5 points at home against NC State, with the Hokies aiming to bounce back after two straight losses. We've seen quite a bit of movement in the lines throughout the week, as there were pick'ems available when we first checked over things. A low total of 45.5 can be found, which signals we should be in for a defensive battle tonight.

It's been a rough go of it for Virginia Tech thus far. They opened the season playing the defending national champions, Ohio State, and naturally lost that game (42-24) despite being at home. They recovered to crush both Furman and Purdue over the next couple of weeks, but then they fell on the road to East Carolina and then at home to Pittsburgh. Both losses were close, with the Hokies losing by a combined total of 10 points.

Meanwhile, the Wolfpack finally saw their spotless start come to an end last week after starting the season 4-0. They lost 20-13 at home to Louisville, with the offense unable to make the most of their opportunities. All in all, however, NC State has struck a nice balance, averaging 39.0 points per game while surrendering just 13.6 (11th in the country) per game heading into Friday.

With our second College Football Pick, we're going to back the Hokies to avoid a third consecutive loss and cover the small number at home. They're battle-tested and should be able to outlast the Wolfpack.
