It is Friday night under the lights in AAC action, with Tulane making the trip to Memphis. This will have an 8:00 EDT start on the CBS Sports Network. Can Memphis top last week's effort at Houston?

Tulane Green Wave vs Memphis Tigers

The Tigers trailed 17-0 at the half and 24-7 in the second half and then went nuts, ending up with 35 more points in the final 20 minutes to escape 42-38 as a single digit road underdog.

Tulane (3-4 SU) moved to 5-2 ATS with a cover over unbeaten South Florida, falling 34-28 as 10-point home underdogs.

The college football odds have Memphis (6-1, 3-4 ATS) at -10.5 with total of 66, so let's dig in.

Memphis Wins and Cover By....

Quarterback Riley Ferguson is the triggerman of the 10th-best passing offense in the country at 333.4 yards a game. Ferguson is not doing this by himself and he expertly moves the ball around, with nine different pass-catchers having nine or more receptions, led by Anthony Miller with 55 (nine TD's).

The Tigers do not feature the run as much at only 158.7 yards per contest (71st nationally), however, they do average 4.8 yards a carry and they might utilize the draw play or other delayed handoffs with Tulane permitting 212.7 YPG rushing (112th) at 5.3 YPC.

Tulane Covers and Possibly Pulls Upset By....

For starters, that was an emotional and draining victory for Memphis and after equally big contest the week before with Navy, they might well be on autopilot for this matchup. Tulane's strength is running the ball and they are No. 12 at 266 yards a game. Though Memphis held Navy before their season average, they still conceded 314 yards on the ground and this where the Green Wave have to control the game and clock and score touchdowns, not field goals against defense permitting 34.4 PPG.

Tulane is not going to stop Memphis passing offense, thus, what they will have to do is win 1st down and design ways on third down to pressure Ferguson to get him off his mark and make throw from uncomfortable angles.

Outcome and What To Look For

For college football picks, I am 2-0 on Friday night assignments at sportsbookreview.com and will back Memphis. The Tigers could well get off a sluggish start, but they have too many ways to move the ball and score points.

While the Memphis defense is below average, they have created 20 turnovers, which is second in the country and this could provide a quick and unexpected scoring opportunity or two for them.

Lastly, it is the history, where Memphis is 15-3 and 13-4-1 ATS in this series since 1992, which include 7-1 and 6-2 ATS at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium.
