Both teams with offensive skill position injuries and terrible weather in the forecast point towards an under ticket, our expert handicapper Drew Martin examines this game and provides his free college football pick.

Last Week 1-1 ATS

The Utah Utes hit the road this weekend and head to Corvallis Oregon to take on the Oregon State Beavers. This cross-division PAC 12 showdown has a few interesting angles and one big weather element at play. The Utes have all the ingredients to bet the under in the current college football odds, especially with inclement weather in the forecast. The question becomes will the Oregon State side follow suit one week after an offensive shootout totaling over twice as many points as Utah/OSU are lined at for Saturday.

The Utes have had multiple injuries at the running back position. Enough that former Utes running back Joe Williams, who retired from football a month ago has returned to help the team's depleted rushing attack. A guy that was watching the team play from the student section a couple weeks ago is not exactly the athlete mentally and probably physically bettors want to back. That being stated, Utah is a defensive juggernaut. A very talented front seven has put pressure on opposing signal callers all year. The Utes defense ranks 24th in the nation in rushing defense.

Oregon State is coming off their first conference win since 2014. A hard fought closely contested game vs California. The overtime victory was added by 474 yards on the ground, including 221 yards and three touchdowns from Ryan Nall. The Beaver running back’s status for the Utah game is uncertain due to injury. Even if Nail does suit up the Beavers are not likely to get half the rushing production they did last week vs arguably the PAC 12’s best defense. Also, the Beavers have not shown any life through the air totaling 170 yards passing combined in two PAC 12 games.

Gauging from past performance both of these teams scream under, but the market has reacted with almost a 10-point move to the under from the opener of 52 down to 43ish across the board. Yes, it is unfortunate to miss out on the previous value, but with 30 plus mile an hour winds and possible torrential rain in the forecast for the pacific northwest, for my college football pick I still recommend the under of 44.
