Lousiana Tech is rolling offensively and UMass should put up points as well. Read to find out why betting the over is the recommended College Football pick.

The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs will make the 1,500 plus mile trip up to New England to play the UMass Minutemen. The game will be played at Gillette Stadium and there should be offensive fireworks from both squads considering the recent performance of each team’s defense.

Ryan Higgins is a fifth-year senior quarterback for La Tech. He has patiently waited his turn behind two QB’s that transferred into Ruston the last couple years and led the Bulldogs to successful seasons. Higgins is coming off a 454 yard, 5 touchdown performance against the defending Conference USA champs WKU Hilltoppers. The La Tech offense has not been stopped all season averaging 526.7 yards per game overall (13th in the nation) and 365 passing yards per game (5th in the nation). The Bulldogs should be able to improve on those numbers Saturday against a UMass defense that has really struggled this season and they had a rough time against the Old Dominion Monarchs last week. The Minutemen allowed the Monarchs to rack up 522 total yards in the 36-16 loss. After giving up over 500 yards to ODU, I am very intrigued to see how ugly it gets defensively for the Minutemen on Saturday.

LA Tech as the favorite College Football pick is tempting, but laying two touchdowns far away from home is not something that has been a money maker long term, especially because LA Tech defensively is not nearly as good, allowing 297.8 passing yards per game (121st in the nation) and 441.8 overall yards per game (97th in the nation). Also, this is a UMass offense that is not totally inept with two good QB’s and will likely have a bit of success against the shaky Bulldog defense that has been vulnerable against capable QB’s.
