Western Kentucky vs Middle Tennessee State 2:30 PM ET

Middle Tennessee will be playing with big time revenge stemming from last year’s embarrassing 58-20 blowout loss at Western Kentucky. The Blue Raiders enter this week riding a 3-game win streak, and they’re 4-1 overall. Their only loss came at Vanderbilt, and it was a a game in which they outgained the Commodores by 151 total yards. Middle Tennessee has won 13 straight conference home games as a pick or favorite, and were also 9-4 ATS, including 5-0 ATS as a favorite of 3.5 or less in that period of time.

Western Kentucky comes into this Conference USA game with a 3-3 record. However, their 3 wins have been against vastly inferior opponents. The Hilltoppers only two victories against FBS opponents were over Mimi-Ohio (0-6), Rice (0-5), and Houston Baptist (FCS).

According to the current (10/14) college football betting odds at, Middle Tennessee State is a 2.5-point favorite. With all things being considered, the home team is a superb betting value, and they’ll be one of my college football week 7 picks.

Wake Forest vs Florida State 3:30

After winning just 3 games in each of the past 2 seasons, Wake Forest is off to a tremendous 5-1 start to 2016. The Demon Deacons already own 2 road upset wins this season over Indiana and Duke. Granted, their upcoming opponent (FSU) is far superior compared to those teams. Nevertheless, they’ll also be getting better than two touchdowns more on the point spread compared to those other 2 aforementioned games.

Despite the sizable talent edge Florida State had against Wake Forest last year, and being a large 19.0-point road favorite, they struggled to put them away in a much closer than expected 24-16 win. As a matter of fact, Wake Forest outgained Florida State in that contest, and actually held a decisive time of possession edge of 35:46 to 24:04. Why was that game played a year ago significant? Because this is a very experienced Wake Forest team that possesses the confidence necessary to hang with their higher profile opponent.

Here’s the clincher for me. Florida State is coming off last Saturday’s emotional 20-19 road win at Miami. And up next after Wake Forest is a home date with #3 Clemson. It’s the proverbial sandwich game.

Temple vs Central Florida 7:30 PM ET

After going a humiliating 0-12 last season, Central Florida appears to be back on the winning track under new head coach Scott Frost. The Golden Knights are coming off SU&ATS wins over Florida International and at East Carolina in their previous 2 games. Furthermore, they won those contests by a combined score of 100-43, and covered by a cumulative 50.0 points. They’ll enter Saturday’s AAC game with a respectable 3-2 record. Their only losses came at #4 Michigan, and in overtime against Maryland. UCF will also be playing with revenge as a result of last season’s 30-16 loss at Temple.

This isn’t the same Temple team that went 10-4 a season ago. They’re currently 3-3, and that includes a season-opening 28-13 loss to Army as a 14.0-point home favorite. The Owls 3 wins have come against Stony Brook (FCS), SMU, and Charlotte. The latter 2 opponents have gone a dismal 2-8 combined when facing FBS teams in 2016.
