Joe Gavazzi is back with his 'Pup of the week' segment, an underdog of 7 or less points that can outright win. These college football picks are 4-1 and he wants to extend that great streak. This week he focuses in Temple vs UCF

Each week in this space, I select a PUP OF THE WEEK.  It is an underdog of 7 or less points, whom I believe can win the game outright. These selections have gone 4-1 ATS on the season, winning the last 3 weeks, including the Florida St. upset over Miami last Saturday night.  It would be no surprise to this bureau, when the Temple Owls win this outright on the field.

Central Florida is one of the bounce back stories of the year.  Under highly successful long-time HC O’Leary, the Knights had a 3-year run of 31-9 SU. But, the bottom dropped out due to a lack of experience and multiple injuries last year.  It cost O’Leary his job and allowed the Knights a fresh start under 1st year HC Scott Frost.  Frost starred at QB while at Nebraska implied his coaching trade at Oregon in the Chip Kelly offensive system.  Under his guidance, the Knights have rebounded with a 3-2 SU, 4-1 ATS start with losses only to Power 5 teams (Michigan and Maryland).  Last week, UCF won at E. Carolina (47-29).  The problem with that victory was that they were outgained 518-370 with the victory more a function of a (+3) net TO margin.

While the Knights were recording consecutive road victories, the Owls of Temple were dropping a 34-27 road decision at Memphis.  Unlike UCF, they were winning the yardage battle 531-323, but suffering a (-2) net TO margin with a 34-27 loss.  It still allowed them to cover the hefty (+10) impost for their 5TH CONSECUTIVE POINTSPREAD VICTORY.   With QB Walker and RB Thomas providing a prolific offensive tandem, this is a Temple team, who has an opportunity to win their final 6 games and challenge for AAC superiority.  It all starts tonight in a role where the Owls, under 4th year HC Rhule, are most comfortable, standing 17-7 ATS as dog, including 7-1 ATS recently, as well as 5-0 SU ATS following their last 5 regular season losses.

I invite you to put the College Football ODDS in your favor and join me in my College Football PICK on Temple tonight.
