The Louisville Cardinals travel to Chestnut Hill, where they will meet the Boston College Eagles at Alumni Stadium. Expert capper Joe Gavazzi takes a look into the college football odds and makes an interesting pick.

Louisville (-25) vs Boston College Noon ET ESPN2

Today, the Cardinals enter at 7-1 SU, only loss by 42-36 at Clemson, and still in playoff contention. They are led by Heisman candidate, QB Jackson. The Cardinals boast one of the premier offenses in the nation, averaging over 50 PPG on 603 YPG. They are a clear example of a 200 Club team, as they ran and passed for 200 or more yards, 5 of their 8 contests. The defense is also outstanding, allowing just 23/305 for the season, including 114/3.2 overland.

Today’s host, Boston College, is a team whose offense is diametrically opposed to that of Louisville. Last year, the Eagles averaged just 17/276. This year, it has improved only slightly to 21/329. Their calling card, however, under 4th year HC Addazio is a defense, which last year allowed just 15/254 and this season is only slightly worse at 23/298.  Last week, the traveled to NC State, whereas 15 point road dog, they outrushed the Wolfpack 176-31, pulling off a 21-14 upset. Today, they return home at 4-4 SU.  Concerns in this contest are the results against the 2 best teams on their schedule. BC lost at VA Tech (49-0) and on this field to Clemson (56-10).  Can the potent Louisville offense beat them by similar margins?  You bet!

But, the value in this contest accrues to the home-standing Eagles. You must only read my Article entitled “Is the Linemaker Faux or Fo’Real?” to see the reason why Louisville is a 25 point favorite and why Boston College is the value side in this game.  Were this game to have been played opening week, Louisville would have been a 7 point road favorite. Remember, they were only favored by 7 points on their home field last year.  But, because of the extraordinary hype surrounding QB Jackson and the Louisville team, this line is now 18 points higher than that opening number.  This, despite the fact that Louisville is only 5-3 ATS and covered by a net of 55 points. Anyone who joined me for last week’s victory on “Virginia +33” in their 32-25 loss to Louisville, knows exactly what I’m talking about. That was part of a group of games that went 17-7 ATS last week, in which the betting line was more than 7 points of where the line would have been priced opening week. To answer the question, the linemaker is Fo’Real!  He just knows the side YOU want to bet and is adjusting the line accordingly. It’s a main reason why College Football underdogs have gone 135-79 ATS (63%) in the last month.  Caveat emptor if you are thinking about laying an inflated number on the Cards.  I invite you to put the COLLEGE FOOTBALL ODDS in your favor and join me in my COLLEGE FOOTBALL PICK on Boston College today.
