Handicapper Matt Jordan:
With a bowl game as a carrot will we see a well-played game? Tech getting 1 point at home against a team with a losing record? I'll take that please even if this isn't a typical Tech team.
This Friday game is the only opening pick'em on the board. Two 5-6 teams for bragging rights of Virginia, meaning the loser will not play in a bowl game. That would be just about unheard of for the Hokies under long-time Coach Frank Beamer. It would be old hat for Virginia. This could be the final game for embattled UVa coach Mike London.
As of this writing this is the lowest total on the board for Week 14. It should be. Both clubs are pathetic on offense. I'm not sure how the Cavaliers put up 30 last week against Miami. The under is 6-0 in UVA's past six overall. The under is 5-1 in Tech's past six and the Hokies set back offensive football decades in last week's 6-3 double-overtime loss to Wake Forest. It's probably Frank Beamer's worst offensive in years. Go under. It has hit in the past four meetings.

Handicapper Ross Benjamin:
Any road favorite or underdog (Virginia) of 3.0 or less in game 7 of the season or beyond, that averages 3.5 to 4.3 yards per rushing attempt, and they allowed 125-yards or less rushing in each of their previous 2-games, versus an opponent that allows 3.5 to 4.3 yards per rushing attempt, has gone 33-8 ATS (80.5%) since 1992. Play on the Virginia Cavaliers over the Virginia Tech Hokies.
Any team (Virginia Tech) with a total of 42.0 or less, coming off a road loss, and has a winning percentage of .450 to .50 on the season, has seen 31 of those 39-games (79.5%) stay under the total since 1992. Play on Virginia and Virginia Tech to go under the total.
The Virginia Cavaliers have a score to settle with their in state rival. Virginia Tech has won the last 9-games in this rivalry, but is ripe for the taking in 2014. Mike London will have to get beyond 2-12 ATS mark as the head coach of the Cavaliers when his team is a favorite or underdog of 3.0 or less. Virginia enters their season finale at 5-6, and desperately needs a win to become bowl eligible. If you’re looking for the slightest of edges in a virtual pick’em game, the Cavaliers are a +3, and the Hokies are a -4 in turnover differential on the season. Virginia also hold a +1.4 rush differential over the Hokies
Virginia Tech comes off an embarrassing 6-3 overtime loss at Wake Forest last week. That game was the absolute yawner of the season, and was tied at 0-0 at the end of the 4th quarter. That's unheard of in this modern era of college football. The loss dropped the Hokies to 5-6, and puts them in serious danger of not being eligible for a postseason bowl. The Hokies were invincible at home for the majority of Frank Beamer's head coaching tenure. However, they've gone a miserable 2-4 SU and 1-5 ATS at Lane Stadium during the 2014 season.
Virginia has gone under the total in all 7 of their games versus conference opponents this season. Virginia Tech has seen 6 of their 7 conference games stay under the total in 2014. These teams have seen 7 of their last 8-meetings played at Virginia tech stay under the total.

Handicapper Jeff Grant:
Virginia Tech has out-rushed Virginia in 34 of the past 42 meetings in this in-state rivalry, but that’s going to be hard to accomplish in this year’s installment, with the visitor possessing one of the top stop units in the country.
Virginia is favored based on last week’s results, as it picked up a 30-13 upset victory over the Miami Hurricanes, while Virginia Tech dropped a forgettable 6-3 overtime decision to Wake Forest. Why is this important? The favorite have covered the number in nine of the last 12 installments of this series.
College football oddsmakers are already prepared for an avalanche of UNDER money to come in for this ACC matchup, as they’ve sent out a number of 40 in the marketplace. The UNDER is 3-0-1 in the Hokies four opportunities as home underdogs of three or fewer points since 1992.

Handicapper Dave Lawrence:
This will be an ugly, yet entertaining game, but I want nothing to do with the side here. The Hokies offense can't be trusted. Neither can the Cavaliers on the road. Under should be the best play and I'll avoid betting the side.
Virginia is 0-4 on the road this year and has lost 10 straight at Virginia Tech. However, The Hokies lost 6-3 to Wake Forest - of all teams - last week as their offense was an absolute disaster. Both teams are fighting for bowl eligibility, so this will be a passionate rivalry. No read on the side.
Although the spread is hard to cap, the game should play under. VA Tech has been pathetic on offense. Last week, they didn't get inside the Wake 30-yard line until there was 10 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter. They had just 254 yards of offense. Virginia is also a weak offensive team, so betting under the College Football odds total figures to make the most sense in this game.
