We’ll be taking an early look at Saturday’s college football contest between #11 Florida State and Wake Forest. Go inside in order to find out the specific details on why we like this point spread selection.

Demon Deacons looks to earn Respect versus Seminoles
Wake Forest (2-2) has the unenviable task of hosting #11 Florida State (3-0) on Saturday. The opening kickoff at BB&T Field in Winston-Salem, North Carolina is slated for 3:30 PM ET. College football betting odds at the time of this writing (9/29) shows Florida State as a 19.0 point favorite across the board. Florida State has dominated the Demon Deacons in their last three meetings, winning by scores of 52-0 (2012), 59-3 (2013), and 43-3 (2014).

Solid Start for FSU
Florida State has opened their 2015 campaign with decisive wins over Texas State, South Florida, and Boston College. They outscored those three opponents by a cumulative 107-30. Their defense has especially been strong during those wins, allowing an average of 10.0 points and just 256.3 yards per game.

Transition from Winston to Golson
The bad news for Florida State is they lost two year starter and 2013 Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston who opted out early for the NFL, and ultimately became the overall #1 picks in the draft. The good news, they inherited former Notre Dame two year starting quarterback Everrett Golson. The senior transfer led Notre Dame to a 12-0 regular season as a frosh in 2012, and “The Irish” qualified for the BCS Championship Game where they were soundly beaten by Alabama. Golson had a propensity to turn the ball over on numerous occasions a season ago, eventually losing his starting job to Malik Zaire in the spring, and hence the move to Tallahassee. He’s not been overly spectacular in his first three starts for his new team, but has protected the football extremely well, and that’s evidenced by him not committing any turnovers.

Young and Overmatched
You can safely assume that Wake Forest will be playing more freshmen and sophomores than any other team in the ACC this season. The future certaily looks bright, but until blossoming into a formidable “Power Five Conference” team, they’ll endure some growing pains. In my professional opinion, Wake Forest will be completely overwhelmed in this game by the overall team speed and athleticism of Florida State. The Demon Deacons are a deceiving 2-2 entering this week. Their wins have come over a FCS school in Elon, and they needed a field goal on the final play of the 4th quarter in order to defeat Army 17-14.

Final Analysis
The only team that can prevent Florida State from winning this game in decisive fashion is the Seminoles themselves. I rarely like laying points on the road, and especially this many to boot. There’s an exception to every rule, and this is one of them. I’m laying the big number with Florida State for one of my college football picks.
