Can Miami spring the upset of the #12 Seminoles & atone for last week’s humbling defeat at Cincinnati? Go inside to read his insightful betting preview article that includes a point spread lean.

Heated Rivalry Resumes Between Canes and Noles
Florida State and Miami will meet again on Saturday in an ACC confrontation. The opening kickoff at Doak Walker Stadium in Tallahassee is slated for 8:00 PM ET, and it will be aired on ABC. Current college football betting odds indicate that Florida State is a 9.0 to 9.5 point favorite, and the total is either 50.5 or 51.0. Florida State has won the last five meetings between these teams. Each of the last four games in this series has gone under the total.

The Seat just Became Hotter for Al Golden
Miami head coach Al Golden has come under a lot of scrutiny in recent years for the mediocre results his teams have produced. In Golden’s defense, the precedence that was set before him isn’t exactly easy to live up to, especially when you’re measuring up against the likes of Howard Schnellenberger, Jimmie Johnson, Dennis Erickson, and even Larry Coker. All four of those gentlemen won national championships in their tenures as head coach of the Hurricanes. Golden is in his fifth year on the job in South Beach, and his 31-23 record thus far isn’t what alumni and fans expected by this juncture. Things haven’t been made easier for Golden during the Canes previous two games. First they nearly squandered a 36-13 lead with 8 minutes left at home against Nebraska, and managed to escape with a narrow 36-33 win. Then last week in a Thursday night nationally televised game, they were upset 34-23 as a 7.0 point favorite at Cincinnati. The loss dropped Miami to 3-1 on the season.

Brick Wall Defense
Despite going a terrific 13-1, and qualifying for the first ever college football four team playoff, the Seminoles defense was definitely not championship caliber. However, this season has been a vastly different story for the stop unit. They’ve allowed an average of just 11.5 points and 281.5 yards per game on the way to a 4-0 start. The Seminoles were caught looking ahead during last week’s closer than expected 24-16 win at Wake Forest. As a matter of fact, they needed an interception in the end zone with less than a minute to play, and staved off the upset.

Final Analysis
The only thing that stops me from unloading on Florida State is the uncertain status of star running back Dalvin Cook (leg). Everrett Golson hasn’t been spectacular in his first four starts at quarterback for Florida State, but he’s protected the ball well, and that’s evidenced by no interceptions thrown in 106 pass attempts. Florida State has now gone 31-1 since the start of the 2013 season under Jimbo Fisher, and Miami has yet to establish any type of identity under Al Golden. I have a small early lean on the home favorite for one of my college football picks.

College Football Pick: Play on Florida State -9.0 (-105) at Heritage.
