The NCAA football season carries on into Week 9, and there’s one late at night in the Pac-12 that jumps off the page. Check out our ATS soccer picks for Saturday.

Tennessee Volunteers vs. Kentucky Wildcats - Odds: Tennessee -8
This is a game in which the fires of a spirited local rivalry burn brightly. Tennessee has consistently been big brother to Kentucky’s little brother. The Vols have lost just three times in this annual series since 1977, and only once since 1984. Kentucky won in 2011, and that’s it. In other words, the Vols have owned the past 30 years. Kentucky has played these games closely in certain periods of time, but hasn’t come especially close in the past three years. Yet, this year, Tennessee has developed a disturbing trend of being mediocre enough to let opponents hang around until the end. Tennessee simply can’t get out of the pattern of playing close games. The team is good enough to remain competitive against quality opposition, but it is not good enough to put games away early and then cruise through the fourth quarter. Tennessee should win this game outright, but with Kentucky getting more than a touchdown on the spread, the Wildcats – which do have a good defense – should be able to cover the number. A 24-17 score for the Vols would not be surprising at all.

Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs. Temple Owls - Odds: Notre Dame -11
The key point to make here is that Notre Dame has managed to overcome several important injuries to this point in the season. Quarterback, tight end, interior defensive lineman, cornerback, running back – these are core positions on a football team, and Notre Dame has lost good starter-level players at each position. Yet, the Irish have just one loss and are marching forward, trying to stay in the hunt for the College Football Playoff. This team is very strong and very deep on the offensive and defensive lines. Temple has a very good defense, one which hounded Penn State in week one and caused a potent Cincinnati attack to commit all sorts of mistakes in week two. The Owls have a legitimately strong defensive unit, one which should be appreciated this season. Yet, Notre Dame brings a level of power that Temple simply has not seen. Notre Dame should be able to dictate the way this game is played, and the Irish should expose Temple’s very limited offense. Take the Notre Dame Fighting Irish here with your college football picks.

Stanford Cardinal vs. Washington State Cougars - Odds: Stanford -10
It’s true that Washington State quarterback Luke Falk has become one of the better quarterbacks in the Pac-12 over the past month, leading the Cougars to road wins against Oregon and Arizona. Washington State has definitely turned around its season, and with the ability to score quickly, one can see why the Cougars would cover the 10-point spread. However, how does Washington State stop a Stanford offense which has been roaring with efficiency over the past several weeks? Every facet of the Cardinal’s offense is clicking. The power-run game and a downfield passing game off play action are both generating what coach David Shaw wants. Washington State might score 30, but Stanford might score 49 or more. Take the Cardinal to cover the college football odds.
