Two Successful Football MAC Programs Collide on Tuesday
Northern Illinois (8-3) will entertain Ohio (7-4) on Tuesday. The opening kickoff at Huskie Stadium in DeKalb, Illinois is slated for 7:30 PM ET. Current college football odds shows Northern Illinois as a 13 point favorite, and a posted total of 56. Northern Illinois defeated Ohio last season by a score of 21-14, and also covered as a 1.0 point away underdog. These teams have seen their last three, and four its previous five meetings be decided by 7 points or less.

Kudos to Frank Solich and the Bobcats
This may have been the best head coaching job in the long career of Frank Solich. His team has been decimated by injuries since the halfway mark of the year, yet their once again bowl eligible headed into their regular season finale. The Bobcats enter the week riding a modest two game win streak. However, those victories have come at the expense of Kent State and Ball State. Those two teams currently have a combined record of 6-16. By virtue of their 7 wins already this year, Ohio in all likelihood will be in a bowl games for the sixth year in a row.

Win Clinches MAC West for Huskies
This won’t only be the final home game for the senior players for Northern Illinois, but a win will earn them a spot in the MAC Championship Game against Bowling Green. The Huskies enter this contest red-hot, going 6-0 SU&ATS in their previous six contests, and winning by an average of 17.2 points per game. Northern Illinois has gone a dominating 34-1 in their last 35 home games.

Final Analysis
Northern Illinois will have urgency, momentum, emotion, and a extremely strong home field advantage clearly on their side in this matchup. Ohio has battled hard through a plethora of injuries, and has put together a very good season with all things being considered. Unfortunately, they have too much to overcome in this spot, and will wear down considerably as the game progresses due to a lack of quality depth. I’m going to lay the points with the Huskies for one of my college football picks this week.
