Maryland comes out of its bye week with a tough road trip to Michigan. The host Wolverines are more than two-touchdown favorites on the NCAA football odds card, but what's best for your NCAAF picks?

Maybe a few of the Maryland folks could smuggle in some crab cakes to make for a splendid breakfast ahead of this conference clash.

We’re in Big Ten Country for this week’s early bird special, the No. 15 Wolverines looking to keep pace with Ohio State atop the East Division of the league ranks while the Terrapins take aim at a second upset as double-digit underdogs this season. BetOnline has the Maize and Blue laying 17½ after starting the spread a half-point higher, scoreboard bettors looking at a total in the 47½-48½ range.

Dynamic Terps Running Attack Meets Tough Michigan D

Give Matt Canada some credit for keeping the team together while Maryland wades through the tragedy surrounding the death of Jordan McNair. Coming out of their bye week, the Terrapins are just two dubyas from topping the 4½-win total on the college football futures, and only have the embarrassment vs. Temple three weeks ago in the loss column. Paced by the tailback tandem of Ty Johnson and Anthony McFarland, Maryland ranks 11th in the country averaging nearly 259 yards per game on the ground.

The Terps might be fortunate to run for half that much against a Wolverines front seven that is seventh, allowing less than 90 yards rushing per game. They gave up a season-low 28 yards rushing last week at Northwestern, yet still needed to rally past the Wildcats for a 20-17 win as 2-TD favorites. Karan Higdon has been the workhorse in the backfield and is coming off a 30-tote effort at Northwestern, but the Michigan offense might be without backup tailback Chris Evans for a third consecutive game, the junior still nursing a leg injury.

[/]{"component": "embedHTML", "code": "

When it’s game week again 😁#BeatMichigan pic.twitter.com/3VmhBsoMyO
— Maryland Football (@TerpsFootball) October 2, 2018
\n\n"}[/]

Wolverines Looking For 4th Straight Win Over Terrapins

If things go as they have the last three years in this rivalry, the Wolverines will have no trouble covering the spread. Favored by at least 13½ in all three encounters since Jim Harbaugh arrived in Ann Arbor, Michigan has won each time with last year’s 35-10 final the closest of the three. A year before Harbaugh got to Michigan, however, Maryland pulled off a 23-16 upset in Ann Arbor as a 6-point underdog on the NCAA football odds board, the victory coming in the Terrapins’ first Big Ten campaign.

An 80% chance of rain with temps in the upper-70s is the Saturday afternoon forecast in Ann Arbor. Michigan has a couple of big games on deck, hosting Wisconsin next week before traveling to East Lansing to face State, making it impossible for the Wolverines not to at least be peeking ahead. Gimme the points and the Terps for my free college football pick.
