There's nothing worse than doing all your homework, researching matchups and combing the top online sportsbooks for the best numbers only to find out thundershowers are on the horizon after the game kicks off. Don't let the weather spoil your college football picks!

12:00 PM ET Kansas vs. Iowa State

With a light breeze blowing from the southeast and a game-time temperature of 65 degrees, this had the makings of nearly perfect weather for an autumn game in Ames, Iowa. However, hold those tickets because we have a 60 percent chance of thundershowers closing in and that could make this track more than a bit slick. The Cyclones have actually inched up from 21 ½ point home chalk to 22 ½ but that could have more to do with the Jayhawks reliance on the run, averaging 161 yards per contest, which would be adversely impacted by a wet field.

However, the total has plummeted from an opener of 67 ½ to as low as 64 ½ at shops like Pinnacle and Heritage. Keep one eye on the weather report and the other on the college football odds as the total could plunge even further if that 60 percent chance of rain becomes closer to 100 percent.

8:00 PM ET TCU vs. Kansas State

The Horned Frogs will travel to Manhattan to take on the Wildcats as touchdown road favorites in this one and are hoping that the elements play no role in preventing their high-octane offense from clicking on all cylinders. Currently the No. 6 team in the nation with a 5-0 record and averaging a whopping 44.4 points per game, TCU is hoping the cleats stay dry today but the total has dropped precipitously with reports of 60 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms.

Those who were looking for oodles of points and went over the posted total in their college football picks when the line opened at 56 ½ must be gnashing their teeth right now as this line has dropped like a rock to 49 ½ and even 49 at Pinnacle. KU's quarterback Jesse Ertz has been ruled out with a knee injury but watch the skies because the wet weather could slow these offenses to a grinding halt.

12:00 PM ET Michigan State vs. Minnesota

Despite a 70 percent chance of rain in the forecast, this line and total have registered barely a blip in response to the weather report. It is unusual to be sure that a line, especially a total, would remain rock solid but here it is, one of the few exceptions to that sports betting rule. The 21st ranked Spartans travel to Minnesota as solid four-point favorites across the board. The total opened at 40 ½ and has inched down to 40 in most shops but you can still get 40 ½ at Heritage if an under play seems like it might be right in this circumstance. I say why not take get down on this game going low before those numbers disappear!
