We’ll be breaking down the NHL game tonight between Arizona and New Jersey. All you need to know from an NHL betting perspective on this contest is all right here, including our selection as well.

Coyotes Invade New Jersey
The New Jersey Devils will entertain the Arizona Coyotes on Monday at 7:05 PM ET. According the NHL betting odds at Bookmaker, the Devils are a -190 money line favorite, and the posted total is 5.0. Bookmaker also has New Jersey -1.5 (+160) and Arizona +1.5 (-185) on the puck-line. This will be the first meeting of the year between these teams. Arizona won both games versus New Jersey last season by identical 3-2 scores.

Coyote Ugly
The Arizona Coyotes enter tonight’s contest having lost five in a row and seven of their last eight games. The Coyotes scored two goals or less in each of those previously mentioned seven losses. They’ve also lost by two goals or more in each of their last four, and allowed four goals or more on all of those occasions. Mike Smith will get the start in goal for Arizona, and he’s endured a less than impressive season thus far. Smith has gone 10-30 in his forty starts during the 2014-2015 NHL campaign while posting a subpar .895 save percentage.

Home Cooking doing wonders for the Devils
Tonight will be the fourth of a six game in eleven day home stand for the Devils. New Jersey has taken advantage of home cooking by winning each of the first three. The Devils enter tonight ten points behind the Boston Bruins for the final wild card spot in the Eastern Conference, and have twenty-three games left to play. New Jersey has allowed two goals or less in each of the last three, and ten of their previous thirteen games. They’ve also gone under the total in five of the last six, and went over the number just twice in their previous thirteen games.

It's a slow night tonight, but here you can find our NHL picks for tonight

Devils Goaltender has flown under the Radar
Cory Schneider will be in goal for the Devils today, and he’s been a shining light in an otherwise lackluster season for New Jersey. Schneider has a stellar .924 save percentage in fifty-one starts, posted three shutouts, and has seen only 33.3% of those starts go over the total. As a matter of fact, the Devils have gone over the total in only five of their twenty-three (21.7%) home games this season when Schneider is their starting goaltender.

Final Analysis
The Devils may not be the most exciting team to watch in recent weeks, but they’re playing disciplined hockey, and have been beneficiaries of excellent goaltending. The Arizona Coyotes have done just about nothing well over their past five games, and they’ll be hard pressed to change that trend versus an opponent that’s playing very well at the moment. I’m going to be taking a calculated risk with the home team on the puck-line for one of my NHL picks today.

NHL Pick: Devils -1.5 (+160) on the puck-line over the Coyotes at Bookmaker.

[/]{"component":"oddswidget", "eventId":306019, "sportsbooksIds":[19,43,227,1096,999996,93,238,123,139], "LineTypeId":5, "PeriodTypeId":1}[/]
