Conference USA and the Mountain West Conference offer up a pair of Friday night doubleheaders. Let’s take a quick, modern sports betting look at all four games and offer up picks for each as the 2017 NCAA Football season passes the halfway mark.

Western Kentucky at Old Dominion

With Old Dominion (2-4 SU, 1-5 ATS) having L4 straight ATS and 5 in a row ATS dating back to their last year and the Monarchs (-12.7 ppg vs ATS) first-ever Bowl game against EMU, backing visitors Western Kentucky on Friday night is the advice here in this Week 7 C-USA East Division meeting from Foreman Field in Norfolk, Virginia. ODU will have had 58 straight Home sellouts and 11th-year HC Bobby Wilder (8-20 ATS) will definitely have his still fairly new FBS team ready, but knowing the Monarchs were beaten by 35 points (59-24) by WKU in this game last season at Bowling Green, KY (WKU -15½) and the Trends showing ODU 0-3 ATS vs. WKU, this one’s an easy choice, despite the average start for QB Mike White and the Hilltoppers (4-2 SU, 1-4-1 ATS). ODU has L4 straight by 30+ points (32, 30, 38, 30) after winning their first two games (Albany, UMass) and with these two averaging 95.0 ppg in their three meetings (117, 85, 83), backing the Over at 49 may also be worth consideration for you savvy Totals players.

 Marshall at Middle Tennessee State

should be more entertaining than WKU-ODU with the Thundering Herd 2½- (BetDSI) to 3-point Favorites (Bovada) for this Friday night affair from Johnny “Red” Floyd Stadium (Sportexe) in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The host Blue Raiders head in 3-4 SU/ATS while Marshall is an impressive 5-1 SU/ATS and the Thundering Herd won and covered ATS in this game last year at Home, winning 42-17 and easily covering ATS as 8½-point Home chalks and a game in which MTSU actually lead at Halftime, 17-14 but saw the Blue Raiders get outscored 28-0 in the 2H by QB Chase Litton and the Thundering Herd. With the Home team winning SU and covering ATS the L4 meetings, this is a tough Side call, but backing the perceived better team and taking them on the Moneyline at the best price seems the safest route in what should be a close game throughout in a meeting which now sees Marshall as high as 3-point chalks in many Offshore sportsbooks.

Predicted Final Score: Marshall 27 MTSU 25Free College Football Pick: Marshall -135Best Line Offered: at BetPhoenix

 Air Force at Nevada

and Mackay Stadium (FieldTurf) where 1st-year HC Jay Norvell (3-4 ATS) and Nevada are 1-2 ATS this 2017 Regular Season in The Biggest Little City in the World, losing ATS against Non-Conference foes Toledo and Idaho State but winning outright as 5½-point Home Dogs to Hawaii, 35-21 in Week 6. The Trends show the Falcons to be 3-0 ATS the L3 meetings in this series with 79, 87 and 83 points being scored in those meetings (2012-2014). This one might not be as high-scoring, but with AFA Overs are 4-2 and the Falcons Rushing for 306.7 Nevada welcomes Air Force to Reno. We head west of the Mississippi River to the Mountain West Conference for this meeting between the Flyboys and the Wolfmen, and anyone watching (and crying through) last Saturday’s Week 7 Nevada-Colorado State meeting in Reno—won by CSU, 44-42—had to be impressed with the Wolf Pack, despite their ugly SU (1-6) and ATS (3-4) marks. This coming weekend in Week 8 play, ypg (#7) and the Wolf Pack not known for their great tackling, points almost have to be scored here, but that Total still seems about 5 points too high.

Predicted Final Score: Air Force 33 Nevada 30Free College Football Pick: Under 67½ -107Best Line Offered: at Pinnacle

 Colorado State at New Mexico

and the Total at 60½ from The Land of Enchantment. Last year in this game, 6th-year HC Bob Davie (32-33-1 ATS) and Los Lobos lost at CSU, 49-31, failing to cover ATS as 8½-point Underdogs in a game which the host Rams led 28-10 at Halftime and ended up flying Over the Total of 62½. With the Under 5-1 in New Mexico games (2-1 at Home) but with CSU coming in off a 44-42 shootout Win against Nevada, it’s hard to recommend a Totals pick (60, 5Dimes), especially with NM looking so bad in Week 7, getting humbled at Fresno State, 38-0 (NM -2½). Expect both teams to play better football than they did last week, especially on the Defensive side of the football. With Colorado for a game which currently sees the rams as 7½-point Road Favorites. The second of our Friday night MWC doubleheaders sees New Mexico at University Stadium (FieldTurf) in Albuquerque State a profitable 4-0 ATS the L4 meetings, winning by 18, 7, 38 and 24, backing the Rams and trying to lay a clean 7, by buying the ½-point (-120) or shopping, seems wise.
