Never easy to lay points in a rivalry game!  That is especially true of one in which pointspread and results have been highly competitive over the years.  Read what our expert capper has to say.

Welcome to our 2016 College Football analysis on this site!  As this bureau begins its 37th consecutive year of football analyses, we look to use our experience and expertise for yet another in a long line of successful winning seasons.

Tonight’s battle, however, looks like it may be one of 2 teams headed opposite directions. And though the linemaker has adjusted this to a degree, I still see value with the Buffalos. This has been a back and forth series in the last 5 years with no game decided by more than two TDs in the last 5 years. Of greater note, however, is that as these programs have headed opposite directions, Colorado has won 7 of the last 9 outright, including 4 of those 7 victories by 14 or more points.

This year, Colorado St. has just 10 RS and does not figure to reach the levels of previous units which made it to 3 consecutive Bowl games. With a limited senior class, a new DC and an unsettled QB rotation, this is a big first-day challenge for the Rams. With the Rams going through a rebuild on defense with just 4 RS and a new defensive coordinator, they would appear to be fresh meat for a veteran Colorado offense.

More pressure is clearly on Colorado to perform under 4th year HC McIntyre. Colorado has just 10 victories for Coach Mac in his 3 seasons. Keying the success figures to be a defense that returns 9 starters and has improved from 38/468 to 27/417 in McIntyre’s 3 years. Remember that a majority of those contests are against the high-powered offenses of the PAC 12, against whom Colorado has just 2 victories. This year, with senior QB Liufau leading 9 RS in a Texas Tech type of passing game, the Buffs could be one of the most improved offensive teams in the nation. With this team virtually made up of entirely McIntyre’s recruits, having a senior-dominated team, what better place to make a statement than in an opening game against their local rival? Blowout no surprise to this bureau, as Colorado gets the call in a rare rivalry favorite selection!
