The college football season moves on to Week 3 and below we’ve isolated a few games that fit our criteria to include in our NCAAF moneyline picks. Let’s get at it and make some money!

Boston College vs. Duke

Saturday, September 19, 2020 – 12:00 PM ET at Wallace Wade Stadium

BC kicks off its season this Saturday with a date in Durham but the Blue Devils will be waiting to atone for their 27-13 loss to the Fighting Irish last week. It’s always a bit of a crapshoot to try to determine how good, or bad, a team is before they’ve played their first game but I noticed the odds on Duke have tumbled from 6 to 4 ½ and it’s only Monday afternoon.

Whether those odds continue to fall is anyone’s guess but, barring any significant injuries on the BC side of things, I have a feeling they won’t be climbing back up. It appears there is wise guy money on BC and although I don’t blindly follow the steam, I’m not inclined to put any stock in a team that was as pedestrian as Duke was last season, particularly when they are laying 4 ½ points to what I believe will be a solid BC edition this season.

I’m calling for an outright win by the Eagles and the college football odds over at Bovada are giving us a +170 return on our money if BC does pick up a road win on Saturday. Let’s get down early and often on what should be a rousing season opener for the Boston College Eagles.

UCF vs. Georgia Tech

Saturday, September 19, 2020 - 3:30 PM ET at Bobby Dodd Stadium

All Georgia Tech did was hit the road down to Tallahassee last week and hand the Seminoles a 16-13 defeat courtesy of the Jackets’ suffocating defense. It was an inspired win as G-Tech rallied from a 13-7 deficit entering the fourth quarter to shutout Florida State in the final frame to secure the win.

It was the first time since 1996 that the Jackets won a season opener on the road against an ACC foe. Oh, and it should also be noted that those who took a flier on the big road pup in their college football picks were rewarded with a return as high as +405 on the moneyline with the Ramblin’ Wreck.

True freshman, Jeff Sims, had 24 completions in the win and was the most by a Georgia Tech quarterback since Reggie Ball connected on 27 passes back in 2003. This will Yellow Jackets’ offense will have a different look to it this season as they transition from the option to the spread formation.

This week they will welcome the UCF Knights out of the AAC and try to contain sophomore quarterback Dillon Gabriel after a sensational freshman campaign in which he set a UCF record for passing yards in a single season with 3,653 while tossing 29 touchdown passes to go along with seven interceptions en route to a 10-3 record.

While I think Georgia Tech may hang around in this one, I can’t help but think they got just a tad lucky last week and took full advantage of it. I like the looks of their defense but I highly doubt their offense will be able to keep pace with Gabriel and the potent Knights attack. Let’s play it safe by eschewing the points and laying the money instead on UCF to win this one outright.

Louisiana Tech vs. Southern Miss

Saturday, September 19, 2020 - 7:30 PM ET at M.M. Roberts Stadium

La Tech finished 2019 with a 10-3 overall mark and punctuated a fine season with a 14-0 blanking of Miami in the Independence Bowl. Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, they lost their talented starting quarterback, J’Mar Smith, to graduation who latched onto the New England Patriots for a cup of coffee in their training camp followed by a brief hitch with the Packers.

The Golden Eagles didn’t have nearly the success that their Conference USA rivals from Louisiana Tech had last season but they did make it to the Armed Forces Bowl where they were subsequently dispatched by Tulane, 31-13.

Although the Bulldogs are unsettled at quarterback, their backfield from last season is returning as are most of their receiving corps. Southern Miss looked miserable in their opener last week when they lost to South Alabama, 32-21, as an 11 ½ point home favorite. Watch the Bulldogs win this one outright on Saturday.
