A winning week in the opening weekend of College Football, even after a one-point loss and a triple-overtime Over, has me feeling pretty good coming into Week 2 of the College Football season. The wine is a’flowin’ and the yeast beasts are hard at work making the 2016 vintage, so let’s get cooking with the Week 2 totals picks for your Saturday morning.

Troy vs Clemson
The Trojans must be thankful for an easy win in last week’s game after a 4-8 season in 2015, as they blasted FCS opponent, Austin Peay. However, this game will be a whole different animal as they travel to take on the 2nd ranked Clemson Tigers. Now, I will admit that the Troy defense was very bad last year, giving up more than 40 points in 4 of those 8 losses. But for this game to go over, one will have to expect that Troy will be able to put up 17 points or more on Clemson. Troy averaged about 2 touchdowns in their games against power conferences last year, which would leave Clemson responsible for over 49 points.

I’m looking at last season’s matchup of Clemson versus mid-major teams Wofford and Appalachian State, where they won 49-10 and 41-10, respectively. In fact, Clemson only broke 50 points twice last year, which is what I think will need to happen for this game to go over the listed total. Watch for Clemson to rest starters and run clock in the 2nd half here, and for this game to slow down. Take Under 65.5 points in this game at 5Dimes to start your Saturday on a winning note.

Tulsa vs Ohio State
776 Yards. That is what Ohio State put up against Bowling Green last week, which I think qualifies the Buckeyes as assholes. The Buckeyes ran up the score and covered the spread by nearly 40 points, as 30 players got a taste of their first college football experience. I’m expecting a big let-down this week as a result, and also a bit of a loss of focus as a date with Oklahoma looms in Week 3. There was a similar setup last year, as Ohio State blanked the Hawaii rainbow warriors in route to a Week 2 38-0 win. In the next two games prior to the Big 10 regular season, the Buckeyes squeaked by Northern Illinois 20-13 and rebounded to beat Western Michigan 38-12. Neither of those games were close to the total that has been put up for this game.

Now you may be wondering, ‘but Tulsa put up 45 points in Week 1, they are no slouch!” Ok, technically they did put up 45 points against San Jose State, but their offense did not. The Golden Hurricane defense was able to get a pick 6 and recover a fumble in the end zone in that game, which padded their final score nicely. They also scored 3 running touchdowns against 1 passing touchdown in the game, with QB Dane Evans going just 12-23 and taking 4 sacks in the process. I would not expect the Tulsa running game to be as effective against Ohio State at all, and their passing game is not enough to pick up the slack. The Tulsa offense should be absolutely outclassed here, and I would be surprised if they put up more than 14 points. I’m looking for a dominant win her by the Buckeye’s again, but they should fall short of this inflated total. Take Under 73.5 as another Saturday morning College Football Pick.
