College Football Week 3 Kicks-Off This Thursday when Cincinnati hosts Houston in an anticipated matchup. Our betting expert takes a look at the odds and provides the best angle possible.

Last year Cincinnati and Houston played a tight affair with the Cougars winning by three points. These teams seem to always play very close to each other and today probably won't be much different as Houston travels to take on Cincinnati. This year there's a lot of hype surrounding Houston so will they be able to live up to that laying a touchdown on the road?

Cincinnati Bearcats
Cincinnati gained 512 total yards versus Purdue but gave up 504 as well winning 38-20. Cincinnati took advantage of five Purdue turnovers which were all from interceptions. Right now it seems they might be  a bit better than people anticipate and Hayden Moore at quarterback has been decent completing 60% of his passes along with five touchdowns and just one interception. Overall offensively I believe they are going to be able to move the ball even though they have some new guys at the skill positions.

Upfront they have some solid returners at center and a guard that should help keep Moore off his back and they should also come in with some confidence considering they gained 589 yards against Houston at Houston last season. That was with Gunner Kiel at the helm but due to a sore shoulder coming out of camp he is now listed as a backup, still, Moore has proven he can be successful in this offense even though there are a few scheme changes with a new offensive coordinator. Defensively Cincinnati struggled last year but this year should be much improved with several starters returning on that side of the ball, they will need to play well tonight against an explosive Houston offense.

Houston Cougars
Houston gained 410 total yards and their opener versus Oklahoma winning 33-23 at home and are ranked sixth in the country. With that win over Oklahoma this team can start setting their sights on having a magical season as their schedule sets up quite nicely. Outside of this game it looks like there only tough contest will be not until the very end of the season when they take on Louisville at home. Quarterback Greg Ward Jr. played well against Oklahoma but sat out Houston's last contest against overmatched Lamar with a sore shoulder. He looks ready to go today according to reports and he has some really nice skill players around him.

What could hurt them a bit today though is they lost all of their defensive backs from last season and are breaking in quite a few new starters defensively. The talent is there across the board though and head coach Tom Herman is outstanding. However, despite the lofty predictions I have a hard time believing they come in and roll a well-coached Cincinnati team.

NCAA football odds
Odds makers now have this line favoring Houston -7.5 across the board with a little bit of higher juice at most places backing Cincinnati getting the points. For my NCAA football pick I'm going to take the well-coached Cincinnati Bearcats +7.5 like at 5 Dimes, where you will find a 50% Free Play Bonus. There is no doubt that Houston is a program on the rise but no team waltzes into Cincinnati and rolls the Bearcats. Houston should come out with the win but don't be shocked if Cincinnati pulls the upset.
