Indiana vs Northwestern 12:00 PM ET

Indiana is undoubtedly an improved team. However, since 2002, the Hoosiers are a pathetic 6-51 in conference away games. As a matter of fact, they’re an abysmal 0-10 SU&ATS in its last 10 games as a conference away underdog of 27.0 or less. Indiana is coming off a 27-22 loss to Nebraska, and failed to cover as a 3.5-point home underdog.

Northwestern is coming off a pair of impressive road wins over Michigan State and Iowa in their previous 2 games. That evened the Wildcats season record at 3-3. Their only 3 losses have come by a combined 14 points. Two of those defeats came against #20 Western Michigan and #8 Nebraska. Those 2 teams are a combined 13-0 thus far.

Any conference home team that’s +3.0 to -3.0 with at least 1 loss on the season, and is coming off SU&ATS wins in each of their previous 2 games, versus an opponent with a winning record but comes off a SU&ATS loss, resulted in those home teams going 23-5 SU&ATS (82.1%) since 1995.

Colorado vs Stanford 3:00 PM ET

Colorado enters this week with a solid 5-2 record, and they’ve covered in each of those 7 games. The Buffalos only losses came at #3 Michigan in a game they squandered a 2nd half lead, and there was also a narrow 21-17 defeat at USC. Colorado is coming off a 40-16 conference blowout 40-16 home win over Arizona State in their previous game.

Stanford was a 17-10 winner last Saturday as a 3.0-point underdog at Notre Dame. Keep in mind, Notre Dame is now an extremely disappointing 2-5. Stanford has been anemic offensively over its last 3 contests, averaging just 13.0 points and 268.3 total years per game during that time frame. They’ll be facing a Colorado defense on Saturday that’s allowed a meager 14.3 points and 318.0 total years per game over its previous 3 games.

At the time of this writing (10/21), college football betting odds shows Stanford as a 1.5-point favorite. Any conference road team that’s +3.0 to -3.0, playing in game 5 or beyond, and is coming off a home win by 10 points or more, versus an opponent coming off a non-conference game SU&ATS win, resulted in those road teams going 8-0 SU&ATS since 2012.

Ohio State vs Penn State 8:00 PM ET

Ohio State allowed 236 yards rushing during their 30-23 overtime win at Wisconsin in their last time out. That was a Wisconsin team struggling to run the ball entering that contest. Conversely, Penn State is coming a home underdog 38-14 straight up win over Maryland, and the Nittany Lions racked up a massive 372 yards rushing in that contest. That victory was the second in a row for Penn State, and it followed a win over Minnesota.

Any conference home underdog of 14.5 or more, coming off 2 consecutive wins over conference opponents, and has a winning record, resulted in those home underdogs going 16-1 ATS since 1996. Those sizable home underdogs also won 5 of those 17 games straight up. This betting angle was the final piece of the puzzle in making this one of my college football week 8 predictions.
