Saturday’s NCAAF betting has the Auburn Tigers returning from a bye week to host the Mississippi Rebels, with betting odds-makers giving their lean to Ole Miss.

Auburn is in prime position for an upset victory in this spot, looking for revenge after last year’s 41-20 defeat to the Rebels for our college football picks.

Rebels shut out by Tide

Mississippi logged its first loss in last Saturday’s 25-0 setback against the Alabama Crimson Tide, falling as a 14-point road dog. The Rebels were held to 205 total yards in their 22 minutes of possession, while their defense surrendered a pair of lengthy dashes for touchdowns in the second half.

Rebels quarterback Bo Wallace connected 17-of-31 passes, with wide out Donte Moncrief notching a team-high six catches. Mississippi’s Jeff Scott equaled his season-low of 28 rushing yards on eight carries out of the backfield, while the Rebels converted third downs at a 4-for-14 clip.

Defensive back Cody Prewitt came away with an interception for the Rebels, picking off Alabama’s A.J. McCarron in the fourth quarter. The shutout’s low octane easily plunged below its betting odds ‘total’ of 55, moving the UNDER to 2-1 in Mississippi’s last three contests.

Tigers return after loss

Auburn has been idle since Sept. 21, losing a 35-21 duel with the LSU Tigers as a 17-point road dog. LSU jumped out to a 21-0 halftime lead, while Auburn’s defense gave up 437 total yards.

Auburn’s Nick Marshall passed for 224 yards, tossing two interceptions en route to completing 17-of-33 strikes. The junior added 46 rushing yards, while backfield mate Tre Mason reached the end zone twice as part of 26 carries.

Marshall and Co. were held to a 6-for-17 mark on third-down conversions, moving the chains for 21 first downs in their 31 minutes of possession. The battle’s combined 56 points stretched OVER the ‘total’ of 54, with all scoring coming from touchdown drives.

Back Auburn to win outright

Bet365 opened Mississippi as a 2 ½-point road favorite, while the money line for Auburn dipped to plus 125. The ‘total’ was first posted at 56 ½, remaining unchanged after mixed early wagers.

I am backing the Auburn money line here, looking for a mild upset as part of Saturday’s sports betting.

Auburn has had a week off since its setback to LSU, while geared for revenge after last year’s loss to the Rebels. The Tigers saw Ole Miss pull away in last October’s contest, following a 17-17 tied score at halftime.

Mississippi had its season’s momentum halted by the Crimson Tide and should find it tough to regroup here with a third straight road game. The Rebels logged a second loss in a row following last year’s 33-14 thrashing from Alabama, giving up 481 yards to the Texas A&M Aggies in a 30-27 home defeat.

Auburn will enjoy the shift back to Jordan-Hare Stadium here, piling up 31 PPG in its first three home contests. Look for the Tigers to collect at the sportsbooks on the money line, continuing a four-game SU winning on its grass against Ole Miss.
