The Stanford Cardinal haven’t lost back-to-back games in quite some time, but will that be the case when they face the UCLA Bruins Saturday? We offer our free college football picks in this Golden State battle.

Let’s take a closer look at the college football odds for this Pac-12 Conference matchup at Stanford Stadium, with the opening kickoff scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.

Gear up for this week's action with our College Football Picks: Week 8 Odds Report.

Perfect start

UCLA is off to a perfect 5-0 SUATS record to start the 2013 campaign, including a 37-10 victory over the California Golden Bears as 26.5-point home favorites last Saturday, while winning the statistical battle for a fifth consecutive contest.

The Bruins have dropped nine of their 16 games versus ranked opponents since 2010, while going 2-2 SUATS as road underdogs of 3.5 to 7 points the last two-plus seasons.

Off a loss

The Stanford Cardinal hasn’t lost back-to-back games since Oct. 2009, as it looks to bounce back from a 27-21 setback to the Utah Utes as 7.5-point road favorites in Week 7, while going UNDER the betting total for the first time in five contests.

The Cardinal have a great opportunity in returning to the win column, as they’ve compiled a 10-1 SU record at home versus Top 25 teams in their last 11 opportunities.

College football handicappers will have a hard time not landing on the road underdog in this spot, with Bruins quarterback Brett Hundley throwing for 1,469 yards and 12 touchdowns with four interceptions through five games.

Hundley is coming off a 410-yard performance in passing yards—ranking as the third-highest total in school history.

Winning at home

The Cardinal have averaged 38.0 points per game in their last 35 home games, while the defense has surrendered just 21.9.

Stanford has proven victorious in each of its last 11 home games in the month of October.

I’m going to recommend that readers back the Cardinal in the first half with their college football picks, as the favorite has covered four of the last five overall meetings in this in-state rivalry.

Stanford has also compiled a 10-1 SU record at home in its last 11 games versus ranked foes.
