We analyze Saturday's Pac-12 clash between the Utah Utes and the Washington Huskies and provide our False Favorite of the Week college football pick.

Utah vs. Washington (-2), Saturday, November 7 at 7:30 ET FOX TV
Utah visits Washington for this 8:30 ET pm kick Saturday night, as televised by FOX TV.  It is a matchup of 7-1 SU Utah who is 4-1 SU in Pac-12 play against the 4-4 SU Washington team who is 2-3 SU in Pac-12 play. Yet, because Washington is 5-2 ATS for the season with net coverage by 88 points, the Huskies have been installed as the favorite in this game.  Wrong Favorite!

No question that Washington is having an outstanding season under 2nd year HC Petersen.  With just 10 RS, including 4 on the defensive side of the ball along with a freshman signal caller, little was expected of the Huskies this Pac-12 season.  They have definitely overachieved beginning with their 16-13 loss at Boise as +13 dog, then their (17-12) upset at USC as 17 point road dog, culminating with last week’s effort a (49-3) win over Arizona in which they outgained the Wildcats 468 to 330.  Kudos to HC Petersen for fielding a team that has been incredibly competitive.

True enough, Washington has done a remarkable job this season.  But, it does not compare to the performance of the Utah Utes, who are clearly the better team.  For, Utah already has wins on their resume against such quality teams as Michigan by 7, Utah St. by 10, Oregon by 42, Cal by 6 and Arizona St. by 16.  Only a road loss at USC, a game in which they were (-4) in the net TO column, blemishes an otherwise undefeated record.  A look at the numbers confirms this.  While Washington struggles to put up just 351 YPG, the Utes as usual own the line of scrimmage against their opponents, outrushing them 179/4.4 to 113/3.5. This is a trademark of 11th year HC Whittingham and is also a reason why the Utes have been so consistent and so successful over the years. This year, the ground game is led by RB Booker, whom you will see playing on Sundays next season!  Veteran experienced Ute, QB Wilson, has vast edge over Frosh QB Browning for the Huskies. While Petersen normally gets points on the sideline, Utah HC Whittingham gives away nothing in this contest.

Betting Analysis
It is tough for the betting public to play underdogs in this price range.  They don’t like playing teams who are considered to be inferior (an underdog price) and easily knee-jerk to the concept of playing home teams in a win situation.  That thinking, of course, is totally dichotomous to that of successful handicapping in sports.  You have plenty of quality reasons to back this “micro-dog” against a “false favorite.”   I invite you to join me, as we put the college football odds in our favor with this college football pick Against the Washington Huskies as the False Favorite of the Week.
