The college football season drifts into week eight, and you’re going to see a slate with very few big games. Here we have a late betting trio you can add to your college football picks

Kentucky Wildcats vs. Mississippi State Bulldogs
This is a game in which the key is to ask yourself not which team you trust more, but which team you trust less. The Kentucky Wildcats are coming off a game in which they committed some bad mistakes in the red zone and then, in the final minute of regulation in a game, ran the ball despite having no timeouts and trailing Auburn on the scoreboard. The Wildcats keep teasing their fans by coming close to the victory or victories which will mean a bowl bid, but then just when they get very near their ultimate goal, they lose focus and stumble. Mississippi State is not exactly a team to be trusted. The Bulldogs have lost a number of offensive starters surrounding quarterback Dak Prescott, and those losses have affected the team as much as many experts thought. Mississippi State will almost certainly finish in the lower half of the SEC West this season, and for that reason, you might think the Bulldogs won’t be able to cover the number against a Kentucky team which defeated two-time defending SEC East champion Missouri earlier in the season. However, Kentucky has fallen off the pace in recent weeks, the Auburn game being just one example of how this team has lost its edge. Relative to most of the SEC, Mississippi State is inferior and should struggle. Relative to Kentucky, it’s very different. Take Mississippi State to cover the college football odds.

Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Rutgers Scarlet Knights
The key point to make here is that Ohio State is failing to really demolish teams. The Buckeyes started the third quarter of last week’s game against Penn State in a rather lethargic fashion. They were finally able to subdue the Nittany Lions, but they still didn’t do so with a flourish. The offense still has rough edges, and the team gives the appearance of a group that’s a far cry from the 2014 national champions, the team which breezed through the playoff against Alabama and Oregon. Coach Urban Meyer is handing over the offense to J.T. Barrett, which could be beneficial. However, the Buckeyes’ problems seem to go beyond one man. They need to be better as a whole.

This game is a Rutgers home game at night. Coach Kyle Flood, after having been suspended, will probably have his players jacked up for this one. Given that Rutgers very nearly defeated Michigan State at home at night, the Scarlet Knights should be able to keep this game under the number.

Utah Utes vs. USC Trojans
It’s true that Utah has not looked great in each of the last two games, but USC is without a permanent head coach. The Trojans lost their second 41-31 game of the season to Notre Dame on Saturday, after Stanford beat them by the same score weeks earlier. USC’s defense is extremely vulnerable, and that’s where Utah can strike. The Utes’ pass rush should contain the Trojans’ offense as well. Go with Utah for your college football picks.
