The No. 10 Oklahoma Sooners stayed unbeaten with last week’s 35-21 victory as a 3.5-point road favorite over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

Sooners cash as road ‘chalk’

Oklahoma jumped out to an early 14-0 lead in Saturday’s triumph, while moving the ball for 25 first downs through 36 minutes of possession. Sooners quarterback Blake Bell connected 22-of-30 passes for 232 yards, while adding 59 yards of rushing from 12 keepers.

Bell found wide outs Sterling Shepard and Lacoltan Bester for one touchdown each, while mate Jalen Saunders notched a team-high seven catches. Oklahoma’s Brennan Clay dashed for 77 yards on 14 carries out of the backfield, while Damien Williams took in one score from 11 yards out.

The Sooners’ defense grabbed three interceptions, while holding Notre Dame to a 4-for-12 mark in third-down conversions. Oklahoma was flagged for just four penalties (31 yards), while the battle’s combined 56 points leaped ‘Over’ the ‘total’ of 50.

Frogs pull away at home

TCU piled in 41 second half points as part of last weekend’s 48-17 win over the SMU Mustangs, cashing as a 17-point home favorite. Horned Frogs safety Sam Carter snagged two of his side’s four interceptions, while he and his mates held SMU to 292 total yards.

TCU’s Waymon James and B.J. Catalon each reached the end zone once, uniting for 99 rushing yards on a combined 20 carries. Horned Frogs quarterback Trevone Boykin notched a season-high 228 passing yards, completing 15-of-26 attempts.

TCU sophomore Ja’Juan Story caught a 56-yard score from Boykin, while the Horned Frogs offense moved the chains at a sparse 2-for-12 clip on third downs. The lopsided affair’s 65 points flew ‘Over’ the total of 49.5, with Carter returning one of his picks for TCU’s final touchdown.

Back the Sooners on Saturday

Oklahoma opened as a 10.5-point home favorite on the college football odds board, with early wagers on the Sooners lifting the number a ‘hook’ to 11. Both squads continue Big 12 Conference play next week, with TCU hosting the Kansas Jayhawks and Oklahoma meeting Texas in the “Red River Rivalry.”

I am laying the points with Oklahoma here, backing the home ‘chalk’ in Saturday’s sports picks.

The Sooners have crushed their opposition by a combined margin of 136-48, with a 3-1 spread record as favorites each time out. Bell ranks second among Big 12 rivals in quarterback rating (176.9), while his squad’s running game has notched a sizable 5.3 YPR.

TCU fell short in its sole road spot of the year, losing to the Texas Tech Red Raiders on September 12th in a 20-10 defeat as three-point road ‘chalk.’ Boykin threw two interceptions, while the Horned Frogs converted third and fourth downs at a lowly 4-for-18 clip.

Oklahoma should hit even bigger strides here than its first four weeks of action, notching a 4-1 ATS mark in its last five October duels. TCU comes in overvalued, with a 0-6 spread record in its last six spots that followed victories, while going just 1-4 ATS in its last five matchups against foes with winning records.

For your college football picks, look for Oklahoma to smother the Horned Frogs here, adding another cashed ticket to the Sooners’ 2-0 spread record in the past pair of meetings between the rivals.
